hey tinkerbell! how u doing? according to the plan i chalked out,i take CK in august end and CS in october 1st week.do you think its OK???or i need to hurry up a little??also whether i should go for CS first? i just dunno how to organise all this!
how much time would be needed for CS and CK each if i start now.....pls help...

hey dayd,

have you checked out the CS timetable for declaration of results.i suggest you go thru it before scheduling your exams.
try to take ur CS date in september.early in the month should be good.
one of my friends couldnt match this year because of a gross delay in the declaration of his CS results.he took his exam in october and his results came out in january.that kind of delay is unusual but at the same time its possible.
if you get your results early, you can apply for ECFMG certification sooner.that means more programs can call you for interviews.
3-4 months is adequate for CK.it depends on your speed though.some manage in two months.2-3 wks of preparation is sufficient for CS.thats a universal opinion.

i am bothering u again! this time i want to know that after you hav recieved all your scores how long does it take for the whole process of certification to be complete? also,when is it that step 3 has to be taken?befor starting the residency???

hey dayd,

im fine.
it takes about a week for ECFMG certification after submitting all 3 scores.
if you want to increase your chances of getting H1B better to have step3 score before the residency match.Otherwise you may take it even in the first year of your residency.
Some states require the applicant to take step3 only after one is registered in their residency programs.But these are few in number.
