Quick Scroll National Polio Surveillance Project 03.23.06 (2 years ago) #3

The NPSP is a collaboration between the WHO and the Government Of India.

The National Polio Surveillance Project(NPSP),provides technical and logistic assistance to the Government of India, and works closely with state governments and a broad array of partner agencies to achieve the goal of polio eradication in India.

The NPSP recruits Surveillance Medical Officers who have the responsibility of overseeing immunization operations in one district.

They work all over the country, if you join you might be sent to far flung villages etc. But the pay is decent. Its around 6 lakhs per annum i believe. And also look at it this way, you can't say that you will go to Serbia but you won't go to Sangrampur icon_wink.gif .

Its a good place to start, especially if you dont have a degree in PSM /Public Health.

Quick Scroll MPH 04.12.06 (2 years ago) #5

Hi Shuvo and Jax,
I am planning on doing a course in Public Health. Can you recommend a good book on health statistics in India ....so that I can quote some actual facts in my SOP instead of writing a general SOP...!
Thank you

Thank you jax !
I will have a look at these sites. Am in the process of writing my SOP for MPH so probably need some stats to spice up my SOP . Talk a bit about the some of the key Public Health indicators in India and specially Bengal and about how I can contribute my two bobs worth as a Public Health professional.

make it personal...
Write about your experiences in the field, dont generalise too much and dont use too many stats... you have word limits so make a list of things you'd want them to know and prioritize...

(my two cents worth of unsolicited advice icon_wink.gif )
