Quick Scroll dmrd vs md.Anaesthesia 03.23.06 (2 years ago) #1

this goes out to dr. bruno and other postgraduate students who are well versed with the practicalities of medicine.
pls help me take a good decision. at my rank..ill be getting m.d, Anaesthesia at kem and dmrd at sion / nair..but may not be in kem.
i like radiology as a subject and a branch...and am in a neutral status as far as Anaesthesia is concerned...i thou sumtimes find tht Anaesthesia lacks the patient touch tht i wud prefer..
ppl have been discouraging me at times ..coz..dmrd is a diploma finally..and i may not get it in kem mumbai...
pls can sumone tell me what will be the right thg to do..? and pls do let me know abt the pass rate of DNB radiology..and ..among sion nair and grant medical college mumbai..what shud be the order of preference for dmrd if i decide to take up..i ll be highly obliged with a quick reply.
thanks in advance!

Hi Buddy,

U r at a stage where i was a few days back. I had the same problem like U. i was intersted in Peds and i was getting DCH and MD Anas. Everyone discouraged my idea of taking a Diploma seat when a MD is waiting. Well friend its a matter of the future also... So, I chose for Anaesthesia and Im very happy with it. Rest is with U... May God be with U

well to me,if any one interested in a specific branch then he/c shd go 4 that...bt as far as Anaesthesia is concerned you need some extra abilities like sound mind, thorough basic knowledge of all the specialities esp Physiology ,medicine, pharamacology, pedia, emergency medicine and many more things....and the most important is QUICK REFLEXES...QUICK DECISION POWER.
If anyone interested in making future in Anaesthesia ,he/c should take care of this things......
It is not a branch for lazy bones....and lazy minds...and confused persons...and sorry bt I shd suggest that Anaesthesia shd nt b given to all gals....There shd be some screening before that....
If they just wanna be a tutor or asst prof or asso prof and wanna serve in a govt or gen hosp..its okay for gals bt I m nt in favour of that.....
This is my experience....and my own thoughts...
I don't wanna hurt anyone any gals here....

hi
I think not always degree is better than Diploma especially if they are from Different speciality
How can you compare MD Anaesthesia with DGO or DCH or DMRD .. they are seperate ball games
May be in comparison MD Anaesthesia is better than DA ... but cannot compare with Diploma in other specialities

And common guys ..
for diploma students the DNB option is a good opportunity to equal the MD guys.. and DNB is well recognized in Gulf countries too ...
Everyone knows that DNB is a tough exam to clear but if you have a DMRD already you can still practise your radiology and take your time to clear DNB (there is no pressure unlike the straight DNB guys)

If your heart is in one speciality.. go for it..
you have plenty of avenues to advance in your speciality if you are really intrested in it (unlike taking a subject you have no intreset in .. you you happen to get a Masters seat in it)...
so dont fall for this diploma / degree arguement
follow your intrests
Dr khann(MD anaesthesiology)
