in Iron def. anemia TIBC increases and transferrin decreases
in anemia due to chronic disease the TIBC remains normal but transferrin increases (as transferrin is raised in inflammation)

In case of IDA,TIBC must be increased and % saturation of transferrin must be decreased.
In case of anaemia of chronic diseases, both may be normal.
