Illiac crest is most commonest site for bone grafting so pelvis is best option.

why not tibia???

its first order bone graft...

cancellous bone grafts taken frm iliac crest are used as a supplement to a cortical graft or a metallic plate.

onlay graft is the MC type where in cortical graft frm Tibia is taken. they are not used as a supplement.

not sure..only my opinion

tibial metaphysis we will use as becoz it is a subcutaneous bone and in condn where cortical grafts r needed it can b used

Anterior Iliac crest is the most commonly used site for harvesting cancellous graft, followed by the posterior iliac crest.

The rest of the areas yield only vey small quantities of graft, they are used usually for procedures being done in the same region. Eg: upper end tibia, medial malleolus, distal radius etc.

In modern orthopaedics, purely cortical grafts are hardly ever needed, the anterior tibial cortical graft is mostly of historic interest.

In case a cortical component is needed eg: for strut grafting in the spine, the commonly used sites are the iliac crest, the fibulae and the ribs
