I BEG ADVICE TOO FROM OTHER MEMBERS OF THIS SITE CONSIDERING MK AND AMIT ASHISH INDESPENSIBLE FOR PG PREPN AND READING THEM PRIMARY STEP OF PREPN.

PLEASE TELL HOW MANY TIMES TO REVISE AND WHAT TIME TO GIVE AND OTHER VALUABLE TIPS

I AND MANY OTHERS WILL BE GRATEFUL IF RANKERS SHARE THEIR VALUABLE OPINIOONS PERTAINING TO THIS

I got 469th rank this year on my 1st attempt.
I had internship till september last..There fore I had 5-6 months preparation time...
I did Ashish Gupta and Mudit Khanna around 3 times fully back to back.
The second time I read these books, I made some notes from these books...they made a great difference...
Reading these books alone is really boring and hard...so its better to do it with a study partner....
Then do some back referring...(Harrison included)
Then do Pulse or Salgunan or cross.... I concentrated on pulse...Salgu is good but loooooots of mistakes...some unpardonable....
This is what I did
50% time Ashish and Mudith ( 3 times back to back)
25% Harrison(I Read only hot topics under guidance)
10% Micro, Pharmac,Patho,Physio texts
10% time for pulse/Salgunan /SARP(SARP or Sure success for these 4 subjects)
5% class and entrance class notes and material(Kottayam,Tvm IMA etc..)
Vimp----Stop GP, spend more than 8 hrs daily...consistantly
Finally U have to modify according to ur routine..but what ever be it, Ashish and Mudit shud be read daily before AIIMS and aipgme tests... icon_smile.gif
Make funny codes for all difficult things( make codes for everything) icon_wink.gif

The first time I did, we used to have lots of doubts, but we restristricted ourselves to just ashish and mudit with very little references...
The second time was really extensive with references...
But one problem we will face is that once we start references we seem to go deep, deep and deep and finally get lost...avoid it... come back to ashish and mudit again...
The last time u do it, references can be done really fast, more if u are doing it in a group..
Last revision I did with 2 of my close friends...All 3 of us wud keep mudit and ashish....other books wud be taken randomly. Like when we are doing medicine all of us wud be reading questins togather wait for the weaker one among us to answer that particularr question...then if needed only refer...While refering one wud be ready with the page in harrison and the other one with some notes or something else or some other text...the amount of time saved by combined refering is enormous...

And 2 days before AIIMS as well as aipgme, we broke the group study...
Then rapid fire question doing alone(we can really do entire books-- especially recent years if atleast 2 or 3 times reading is over by this time...
Sure sucess I kept the large one...smaller one is exhaustive.....
That one also while doing combined study one guy used to give points from the small one which we used to add into the big one....
Sure success large one is good for Microbiology ---some codes really good, Anaesthesia ---a must.
I forgot to mention one book...
Do Thehelka Forensic fuly---I think no other book is needed then for Forensic ....
I did not do Anatomy from any book ther than ashish and mudit....
Biochem recent questions from Thehelka...
icon_smile.gif
All this may seem huge, But main strategy we did was to make schedules for the coming 2-3 weeks , complete it, then put a new one and start that quickly...
By this way u will be working round the clock for 5-6 months..The pain of the effort u are putting in will be reduced...
Sorry for the long post.....

this retro is dangerous...
retro should be followed only after reading the text..
so select a topic from pulse(amit ,ashish) read it from text ...try to do mcqs from pulse and follow up each question with retro(back ref)
retro alone wont work.....
at least it didnot work for me..
ashish gupta and mudit khanna ve to be read simultaneosly and i thik they need no back -ref
...
