as per the latest trend, we r coming across more and more complicated questions in Anaesthesia in exams these days. but still some questions r repeats snf these lists will help us solve such questions.

CLINICAL SITUATIONS AND AGENTS OF CHOICE

Preferred anaesthetic in ASTHMATICS :

1 KETAMINE
2 HALOTHANE


Preferred anaesthetic in RENAL FAILURE:
isoflurane
sevoflurane
desflurane
halothane


Preferred anaesthetic in CHRONIC ALCOHOLISM /HEPATIC FAILURE
MIDAZOLAM------>for sedation
+go for regional analgesia
+isoflurane/ sevoflurane are suitable anesthetics.

CLINICAL SITUATIONS AND AGENTS OF CHOICE

Anaesthesia in children:
sevoflurane is the agent of choice for induction

most commonly used method is oxygen with or without nitrous oxide and either sevoflurane / halothane


agents not used in children:

enflurane / isoflurane---->pungent and not recommended
morphine not to be used in infants and children till the age of 10 years.

INHALATIONAL AGENTS

inhalational agent of choice in asthamatics --- Halothane
most potent inhalational agent ---methoxyflurane (MAC=0.16)
2nd most potent inhalational agent ---trilene (MMMMAC=0.2)
least potent inhalational agent --- nitrous oxide (MAC=106)
most potent analgesic ---- trilene
hepatotoxic agent is ----Halothane
maximum arryhthmogenic is --- Halothane
most nephrotoxic agent is ----Methoxyflurane(highest fluoride content)
inahalational agents C/I in renal failure --- methoxyflurane and enflurane.
