hi everyone...
saw the movie, MI-3 on friday itself, the day it was released...and yes....as far as action goes...it beats the last two MI's easily. but i aint saying that the movie has only got action and nothing else. it has lots of thrills, twists in the story, and the unexpected keeps on happening wen you expecting something else.....these are some of the parameters which make a good movie good. yes, i do agree that some of the action sequences are way too unrealistic...but again....its total credit to the debut director and his team, to make these unrealistic action sequences look so very real. and right throughout the movie, you wont find a single moment slow, or boring. as for acting performances, nothing out-of-this-world...but a role in such a high paced action movie doesnt usually give an actor much scope for exhibiting brilliance in acting...but whatever opportunities they got, they gave their best. tom cruise was good as usual, and this years oscar award winner for best actor, for his movie "capote", was the perfect villian.
wonder if there is gonna be a part-4 now...though everyone from the movie team has stated that this is the last.
...simba

Saw Rambo 4.
It was a lot better than i expected.
The film is 'Mel Gibsonly' violent, but the same violence gives the old Stallone
the same power he had in the Rambo movies while he was young.
The film does give the Old Rambo the same Powerful image,
But it loses its punch or flow at the climax.
I will give it a "Slightly Above Average" 6/10 rating.

I want to see Rambo so bad! I absolutely love John Rambo.
I heard the end scene was the best, coming full circle.

There is too much violence in the movie! But its realistic.
It really shows what happens to a human body when its hit by a big projectile , blast wave or a sharp knife!
Docs wont have any problem watching the movie.
The movie lacks a real story, its the same story,
Rambo goes to a jungle , kills all the bad guys and rescue the hostages.
Even though it lacks a real story the movie isn't boring, there is enough action to make the audience glued to the seat till the end.

Generation Gap?
I am seeing an interesting trend in the reviews of Rambo 4.
Lets take the popular Movie Review website "Rottentomatoes" as an example.
The "Top Critics" who are usually aged around 40-50yrs are giving very poor ratings to the movie.
It got only 27/100 (Rotten) rating from the Top Critics of Rottentomatoes.
Where as the members of the Rottentomatoes community, who are usually aged around 15-30yrs
are giving very good ratings to the movie.
It got 76/100 (Certified Fresh) rating from the Rottentomatoes community.
If you check ratings of the other movies, there is not much difference between the ratings of "Top Critics" & RT Community.
Only this movie shows this peculiar trend.
May be its the Violence thats attracting young people and it might be the same violence thats distracting the Mature people.
Here's an interesting Pic.

I can't believe someone made a chart on it!! Someone has a lot of time on their hands!
I was going around on the movie websites. And people drew comparisons between the Rambo franchise and Die Hard franchise. Even though the last installment of Die hard was great and a big blockbuster, it didnt stay true to its premise. It became a younger generation junkie entertainment, it didnt retain the true characteristics of the original 3 movies. John McLane becamse a superhero in the last movie, doing everything he never did in the previous movies. While the fans of John Rambo still rejoice, because even in the 4th installment of Rambo, John Rambo remains the same. Although the best part of the series is the first movie.
Most Die Hard movie fans think they were given a raw deal , while John Rambo fans think Sylvestor Stallone remains true to his promise of entertaining his fans.
Most of the reviews, websites indicate that the older generation appreciates John Rambo more, and the audience was an older generation as well, as indicated on IMDB.
THe younger generation went to see Meet The Spartans instead.
I saw a trailor and some scenes of the movie, and i realise it portrays violence in the true sense, though i still find movies like Saw and Hostel impossibly sanguine to watch.
I am waiting for a decent copy of Rambo to come online to watch it.

Me too love Real Life action movies.
Now a days all superhero movies are going more realisitc, like the recent "Batman Returns" or the upcoming "Dark Knight" They are a lot better than their predecessors. The Dark Kight really shows the "Joker" in his real evil form. He's really different that the old Joker portrayed by Tommy Lee jones. However its sad to watch Heath Ledger as a villain now.
Here's a trailor of the Dark Knight.

About the movies in the post, Eventhough Meet the Spartans showed promising trailors no one is saying anything good about the movie after seeing it. Even teenagers are calling it as the 'Worst Movie of 2008' contender.
Die Hard 4 is also kinda good, but its a little hyped up by showing John McClane saving the entire United States. I liked all the action scenes, pretty impressive!
