Sinodural (Citelli’s) angle, is the landmark for the superior petrosal sinus. Its is used to identify it while doing surgeries on this area. It is named after Salvatore Citelli, Italian laryngologist, 1875–1947. The other named terms after him are:

1. Citelli's Abcess: You can find about it in any standard text book for ENT like Dhingra.

2. Citelli's Syndrome: mental dullness, loss of power of concentration, and drowsiness or insomnia, seen in persons with adenoids or sinus infection.

Please see the following picture and text for reference. The book quoted here is for superspecialists, but i must admit that I was unable to locate any reference for it in the usual or semi usual textbooks.

"Image: The sinodural (Citelli’s) angle, which identifies
the position of the superior petrosal sinus as it enters the
transverse/sigmoid junction"

Please feel free to post any confusions or errors of our books here in the forums. Please don't send me private messages regarding queries as I wont be able to reply. Instead use the forum for the relevent book to attract my attention.

Thanks for making our books such a big success.

Dr Himanshu Tyagi
