FAQ: What should be sufficient reading for a rank in AIPGE

before starting preparing for the great battle, that is the AIPGE
exam, most of you must have prepared a stategy what to study by heart, what to read as a reference and what to read as a bonus study??
i would like you to share your views. most people do fine with the mudit khanna amit ashish. but the only problem with them is that it is difficult to mug up others effort. untill and unless you put an effort to come an answer by yourself, if is difficult to master the game.
Salgunan
has been a rescue since a time long. but most of the answers are wrong and when you are just clueless to new topics it gets real boring solving it alone.
i would say amit ashish question bank is better as you get a reference to ease out your work and morever their answers are more reliable.
if you are fast reader pretest are good to cover. but make a time table for it. you tend to be slow when you are a passive reader.
the final secret is that try to cover as much questions as possible and more important revise it. get a good study partner and quiz each other. it helps a lot.
i request you people too to share their views on how to hit the [bleep]'s eye

u r right. but i think Salgunan
is not that gud. no doubt its Q bank is huge, but its faulty & often the Q r repeated with different ans every time amit ashish is helpful. try other books.concentrate on ur weak areas. dont just read mcqs. it wont help

this is a welcome thread.
i am relying more on building a huge database in my head from qn banks
1>10 yrs mk and aa
2>pulse aaa
3>bhatia--if possible
and text only to help building that database
but the key is how many times one revises...
i plan to start revision from mid sept
come on guys. post ur prepn strategies and make the thread richer.....

hi dr kool and dr pupai thanks for your answering, but nobody seems to vote for pretests. i giving it a value. it does seem boring at times to see the black and white letters, but it contents much substance. harrison pretest {16th} dutifully covers much of it's matter.
i think atleast 3 revisions are must. reading less amount is pardonable, re and re reading the amount is essential, otherwise all your efforts will go down the drain.

Hello sparkle,
and helo to dear pupai ,
MK AG + AAA + Retro text
is the main strategy of many aspirants ...
the main difference comes in 'doing' the things!
Both rankers and non rankers read MK and AAA !
the dofference is how they read and how many times ...
We shud put our HEART and SOUL in to it , beleiving the best , hoping for everybodies SMILES , then we will do it..
Read , Revise , Smile !
E n j o y the study..

hey all.am from kmc, manipal.currently doing internship here.have started preparing few hours ago,but am motivated and will gain speed and knowledge as time passes.am doing MK,AA,MAHE
.once im thru with these for 1 topic eg:electrolyte imbalance,i'll attempt Salgunan
.am a fast reader so will read harrisons pre test cos its quite fascinating.
every1 reads the same stuff, wat matters s how much u use ur common sense andnhow positive u r.noone i realy know is v.encouraging.every1 keeps ranting abt how tough it is n how late ive started...but i beg to differ.its all in the mind.so by now ive leaarnt to shut my ears and my mind to such statements.the human brain is great,as is the subconcious.trust in urself and be the best u can.if u wanna discuss topiteme stat.i work during the day and come online in the evening around 10:30 pm or so.
