Whcih is better DA or MD Pharmacology
?

i think.., md pharmac is better,,,but again u have to settle in a medical colleges.. da gives u a chance for practise...,but definitely md pharmac batter..

hey i think Md pharma is better ..anyday a degree is much better and it gives much better .. pharma will better opprtunity in a pharmaceutical company like ranbaxy.. or even a teaching job... but a DA is not worthwile coz u wud not be independent even after that.

if for the time being, v forget about its scope of job in a big pharma company then wat do u say?
Teaching in medical college after doing pharma or doing DNB
after DA or some pvt practice after DA??

It depends on a lot of things.. coz both are entirely different...
- are you interested in para clinical subject and would like to pursue it all your life .. ? please note .. if you take it just coz there is good money in it ... it may not keep you happy later on in the long run ..... But if you are not particular abt the subject , then MD pharmac is a cool option , coz you'll hv an office job type of work nature ..
also .. the assumption that every MD Pharmac will get well placed is wrong , not everyone gets into reputed companies ... even companies like ranbaxy etc.. look for MD pharmac graduates from instt like PGI, AIIMS
etc... Think abt it ..
- now if you are interested in the patient's side of story , DA from a good college is not a bad option at all ,but the main disadvantage would be its a diploma , and you'll have to do DNB
to back it up after that ,, following which you will be equally good as any MD anes .. you'll also be eligible for fellowship opportunities etc.. there is good money in this field too ...
so please dont decided based on the money you'll earn .... Think how would you want your life to be ... cool one or hectic one... both are diametrically opposite ....
make a wise decision .. gd luck

WELL BLUFFMASTER!
YOU YRSELF ARE IN THE RIGHT POSITION TO DECIDE WHT WOULD U TAKE? IF I WAS IN YR POSITION THEN I WOULD HAVE ASKED MYSELF THAT :-
1.WOULD IT BE OK FOR ME TO LOSE CONTACT WITH PATIENTS TOTALLY(IF I leave DA) AND SETTLE DOWN WITH A LIFE LIKE THAT OF AN WELL PAID EXECUTIVE (if I take MD PHARMA)?
U HAVE TO ANSWER YRSELF THAT WHAT TYPE OF LIFE DO U WANT.
COZ BOTH DA AND MD PHARMA ARE LURCATIVE.
IN DA :
THERE IS EARLY INCOME
THERE IS EARLY SETTLEMENT
U CAN DO DNB
(though tough but still many do it)
AND U R STILL A DOCTOR(which is importent for me)
U CAN GO INTO PAIN MANAGEMENT AND TERMINAL PATIENTS CARE.
IN MD Pharmacology
ITS A NEW BOOMING FIELD.
U CAN EARN MORE THAN MANY PRACTISING DOCTORS DO.
U CAN LEAD A PEACEFUL LIFE WITH GOOD INCOME.
BIG DRUG COMPANIES ARE ALWAYS SHORT OF QULIFIED PHARMACOLOGISTS.
FELLOW Rxpgian SOM HAS TAKEN MD PHARMA AT MAMC N.DELHI IN AIPG 2006 AT RANK 654! (not sure of rank but it was within 1000 for sure)
SO ITS U WHO CAN DECIDE THE BEST.
AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED..I WOULD HAVE GONE FOR DA.
DO TELL ME WHAT DID U OPT FOR!
ALL THE BEST!!

And dear vitamin_k, i have taken md gen med thru all india this year. asked this question for a very good friend who is going to attend 2nd counselling of our state.
V will think over wat u said. will tell u, wats he takes ultimately.

let ur friend think....... rethink n then choose a branch amongst the two. competition is tough in both these fields..... i belong to a small town which alreadi 7 anaesthetists.... 4 degree n 3 diploma holders....no room 4 a single new one....
n as for MD pharma he ll be facing tough cometition 4m msc pharma people.....
v difficult to make ones place ........ bt if he takes branch which interests him, he ll b able to perform much better later
