Hi Rueeta.... finally got my own Profile. Couldn't post in ur Psychiatry posts & i'm not so much into the Entrance thing currently... Why r some of ur posts labelled as "Library" ? Is it something Special & who edits the post? What was in that 'legaldevil' post? I have some material i want to post on the drugs. If it gets edited am I banned or something?? Hope not!! I'm posting a few just for Testing...

Ranexa(Ranolazine) has antianginal and anti-ischemic effects that do not depend upon reductions in heart rate or blood pressure. The mechanism of action of ranolazine is unknown. It does not increase the rate-pressure product, a measure of myocardial work, at maximal exercise. It is indicated for the treatment of chronic angina. Because Ranexa prolongs the QT interval, it should be reserved for patients who have not achieved an adequate response with other antianginal drugs. Ranexa should be used in combination with amlodipine, beta-blockers or nitrates.

Kineret (anakinra) is a recombinant, nonglycosylated form of the human interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL- IRa). Kineret differs from native human IL-IRa in that it has the addition of a single methionine residue at its amino terminus. blocks the biologic activity of IL-l by competitively inhibiting IL-l binding to the interleukin-l type I receptor (IL-IR1). IL- l production is induced in response to inflammatory stimuli and mediates various physiologic responses includig inflammatory and immunological responses. IL-l has a broad range of activities including cartilage degradation by its induction of the rapid loss of proteoglycans, as well as stimulation of bone resorption. The levels of the naturally occurring IL-lRa in synovium and synovial fluid from rheumatoid arthritis(RA) patients are not sufficient to compete with the elevated amount of locally produced IL-1. Kineret is indicated for the reduction in signs and symptoms and slowing the progression of structural damage in moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis, in patients 18 years of age or older who have failed 1 or more disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). kineret can be used alone or in combination with DMARDs other than Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) blocking agents

Azacitidine is a pyrimidine nucleoside analog of cytidine. It is believed to exert its antineoplastic effects by causing hypomethylation of DNA and direct cytotoxicity on abnormal hematopoietic cells in the bone marrow. The concentration of azacitidine required for maximum inhibition of DNA methylation in vitro does not cause major suppression of DNA synthesis. Hypomethylation may restore normal function to genes that are critical for differentiation and proliferation. The cytotoxic effects of azacitidine cause the death of rapidly dividing cells, including cancer cells that are no longer responsive to normal growth control mechanisms. Non-proliferating cells are relatively insensitive.
Azacitidine is indicated for treatment of patients with the following myelodysplastic syndrome subtypes: refractory anemia or refractory anemia with ringed sideroblasts (if accompanied by neutropenia or thrombocytopenia or requiring transfusions), refractory anemia with excess blasts, refractory anemia with excess blasts in transformation, and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia.
