For the GPVTS u need to have done the year of internship.
While to apply for F1 posts, u would need a certificate of eligibility from the GMC which is a letter stating that you have not performed 12-months of internship. For this u have to write down all ur experiences since graduation from medical school. Thyen if they are satisfied they would issue the letter. Anyone who has performed 12 months of internship are NOT eligible to apply for F1.
Currently the GMC are not taking any applications for this. The next round are in August.

That was teh dilemma I faced as well.
Well the GMC isn't issuing the letter at momment. Well they were not a month ago. And I was told that they would only start issuing the letter in August. When I stated that I was applying for a PRHO post and the trust was requseting this, they asked me to let the trust know that teh GMC isn't issuing those letters at thsi moment and that if I was offered a post then the GMC would check my details and issue me a Limimted registration restricted to PRHO level, which is what they have done.
So what I would suggest is
1. Call GMC and confirm that they are not issuing the letter of eligibility then
2. Call the HR at the trust and state ur case and request permission to apply for the job.
And then take it from there.

F1 posts in October????? I guess that u are refering to applying for F1 post starting in Aug 2007.
For those the steps and requirements will be made very clear in due course.
As I am aware locals require Dean's approval while IMGs require the certificate of eligibility issued by GMC.
Keep a look out at

Ok let me try and explain to the best of ability and knowledge. Things are changing so much so fast.
Applications for the F1 program for the Aug 2006 is currently closed. Which means that they are not accepting any new applications.
The next program will be in Aug 2007 and applications would be taken in October 2006. It is a central process where you would need to make just ONE application for all the deaneries. For this you should keep a look out at the websites

and

from time to time.

Now for the Aug 2006 as I stated it is currently a closed process, which implies that they are not accepting any new application. They currently in the process of concluding phase 2. There is supposed to be another phase in some time end of this month to early july. These will be places of applicants who had not successfully completed their degree (in simple terms, the ones who failed their finals. For this there is a possibility that they would open this for even new applications. So keep a look out on the 2 websites i stated previously.

Some Trusts have also been taking applications from outside the central system in addition to the ones thru it. These are usually advertised on the bmjcareers website or the

webiste. I got my job offer thru the bmjcareers. So look at these 2 websites also from time to time.
Well all the best
