Tips: Help for UPSC
CMS Personality Test

A lots of people are asking me about the preparation of CMS personality test which is conducted by UPSC
. I have given that test recently and cleared it successfully .So I think it will be helpful for those people who are going to give this personality test, if I share my experience with you.
The first thing you have to understand that it is a personality test, so they will judge your personality not the knowledge you have, for which they had already conducted the theory test & already you have successfully cleared it.
Each day the personality test is conducted in two halves, morning & afternoon. They will call around 50-60 people in each halve, divide this 50-60 people in 7-8 table, each table consisting of 7-8 people (the number may vary in each year, what I am telling is what I have seen during my interview). There are around 7-8 interview boards; people from each table will go to a single interview board. Each day these interview boards are reshuffled.
Usually board consists of 5 people-1 IAS
officer (non medical) & 4 medical personnel. These medical personnel may come from medicine/ surgery/G&O/eye /ENT
/skin/orthopaedics/Paediatrics
/PSM
or any other clinical branch. It depends on your luck which specialists you will face.
Your preparation starts from the day when you are filling the detailed application form. There is a section where you have to mention about hobby. Be careful you will be asked in details about your hobby. Usually the IAS
officer will ask about these things and with this your interview will begin. Remember that if you can please the IAS
it will be easier for you to get selected. So be careful about your GK. Now some questions asked by him-
1. As I have mentioned net surfing is my hobby, so he asked me about cyber crime & some detailed example of that.
2. You are in a busy A&E and at a same time 2 patients one doctor & one politician has came with RTA, whom you should treat first & give reason.
3. To whom you will be proud of kalpana chawla OR sania mirza & give reason.
Now some questions asked by the medical personnel-
1.what are the causes of acute onset breathlessness.
2.treatment of pulmonary edema- with dose of drugs.
3.treatment of malaria, & filaria - with dose of drugs.
4.what is medical traveling?
5.most common cause of anemia in pregnancy, how will u treat it?
6.how u comes to know that a lady is taking iron.
7.scabies
8.treatment of laryngomalasia.
9.a boy has come to u with some unknown poisoning, what is the treatment.
10.name some surgical emergency u have seen.
11.treatment of acute retention & causes.
12.difference of treatment between acute & chronic retention.
13.define IMR MMR NMR & their value.
14.what % of population in Delhi has never seen the face of school?
So u can see they can ask u from every specialty, particularly G&O, pediatrics, PSM
(read well the programs). Recapitulate some experience of A&E.
Regarding your dresses - I have seen only 2 people-wearing tie during my day. So ordinary dresses will help.
All your certificates will be checked outside, so u doesn't have to carry your files inside the interview room.
Don't forget to wish all the person in the interview board before & after the interview.
Try to relax before & during the interview.
If u are coming from an outside station try to reach Delhi one day earlier before the interview. Visit the place of interview personally. These will help to relax a bit.
So guys all the best for those who are going to give the personality test of CMS. If u have any question fell free to ask me.
( all I have mentioned is my personal experience , which may vary from person to person)

i dont have any details idea about services , because i have not yet joined the service. But as i have heard from my seniors & from people who are doing UPSC
jobs, i can share that.
It is a very good job . with decent salary starting at around 19000/- per month. With time u will get promotion. If u dont do any PG then your final salary may go upto Rs 35000-40000pm during yr retirement, if the present scale continues. but i heard soon the basic will increase . if u do PG yr will be much more.
compared to psc jobs , UPSC
have a decent job condition. less work, more time for study, yr posting will be in a area where u will get facilities of modern life( not like psc , where u will be placed in a remote village).u will get better accomodation facility, sometimes with a servant.
u can do PG . after 5 yrs of service u will get leave with full salary for pg.But if u opt for PG before that u will get leave without salary, but yr service will be maintained, after PG u will join specialty hospital.
I have given railway as first priority , bcoz here u will get some extra facility. u will get free AC pass for travel, accomodation at subsidy( i have a hobby of travelling).
the only disadvantage of UPSC
is that yr posting will be any where in india, but usually they will not give u posting outside yr zone.
also u can not do private practice , but lots of guys do it.
Hope this will help u .

I have decided to join the service; in whichever discipline it may be (e.g. Rail, CGHS, and ord. factory, or Delhi MC).
I have decided to join the service because: -
1. It is a Govt job, so it is secured. No body can kick me out at any time.
2. It has decent salary frame.
3. Workloads are not hectic, so I will get plenty of leisure time, which I can share with my family.
4. I can do PG in future, with no headache of thinking that what I will do after PG (I am seeing a lots of guys who after doing PG are not satisfied with them).
5. Economic condition of my family is not such that I can study with the help of my parents.
Well srinivas hope I have make u understand. Can I know something about u, like what are u doing at present, how old are u, what is yr decision regarding service.

Both of u can complete yr PG & then join in cms. It will taake approx 2 yrs more when u will join yr service. if yr course does not complete by that time u can give a prayer for completion. Usually they accept that prayer.
One thing i have mentioned in my article is wrong.
the initiaal salary is around 25000-26000Rs pm, and during retirement yr saalary will be around 50000Rs pm if u dont get any promotion( which is very unlikely, so u can think of even more)

Dear Sir,
I have passed the UPSC
CMSE 2006. The result was declared on 20th September 2006. But I have not recieved any communication from UPSC
till now. A few days back I called UPSC
Office and I was told that the allotment of even the 2005 candidates has not been finalised. Can you please tell me by when can I expect any letter from UPSC
and ultimately the allotment.
Thank You.
