well pay scales will be in excess of >35,000 for a start. It will go up with experience.

But if you are smart enough you can negotiate with drug comapanies with a higher pay scale even after your mbbs without MBA (one of the RxPG directors got offers upto 50,000 start with plain MBBS from Cipla, Hoechst, Dabur - but he declined!)

well these drug companies hire doctors (usually Pharmacology MDs) as employees. The profile of the work does not include research usually. You are supposed to work in close coordination with the medical reps i.e. you will most likely coordinate them. Cipla calls these posts as regional medical advisors. They have one such post for each important city (for metropolitans like delhi, they have two). The pay scales are good and you will most probably interact with the biggest names in medical field on a regular basis. Regarding the job profile, it is like "sophisticated and highly qualified medical representatives". When our director asked about the work profile from one such company during an interview, he was told that it will be "to wine and dine with doctors!"

So depending upon your preferences, you can choose to apply for such posts. They usually advertise in all national newspapers (TOI, HT) from time to time, so keep looking.

As a plain MBBS you can apply for these posts even when they specify the requirement as pharma MD. Remember these are private companies and there are no hard and fast rules in private sector. The talent sells there. If you have tacts and right type of talent, you command your own price.

Hey everyone,

I thought the main field for MBBS, MBAs was the Hospital Administration field. This, mind you, is catching up a lot. And if you get into the good hospitals, you can enjoy your life with hefty pays. But there will not be any patient interaction!

Besides, another reason why you should opt for MBA after you MBBS is when realize that you don't dig being a doctor. That should be plain and logical. One of my classmates did that. He's now very happy with himself for opting out of physicianship.

Get the point?

Cheers

Dr. Kay

Like Dr. Kay said it is OK if u are opting out of physicianship to something very immediately rewarding it is just it!
But i thought that MHA (masters in hospital administration) was the degree needed for that kind o thing.....
what do you think about this?
aandrei.

Hey Aandrei,

I'm not very sure. This is my idea. Maybe MHA is needed after all.

Cheers
