I sincerely believe that the decision to receive coaching or otherwise shud be taken by the candidate him/herself - based on their own frank reflection of how well they studied during their MBBS period esp. 2nd MB and Final MB subjects which account for the major share of any exam's questions..

I know guys who did well without coaching. I know guys who benefited from coaching but people who have worked hard during student days tend to succeed either ways.

Quick Scroll thank you both for the valuable opinion 06.21.06 (1 year ago) #4

i thank you both for replying.
this decision haunts every student who are not in their parent college or dont have a circle in which they can discuss.
can the option of coaching provide such student a opportunity to link with the mainstream or it would proove to be a waste of time?
i agree with the last reply that the descision ultimately lasts with the studentr him/herself.
it would be thought full if more people pool in their opinion. icon_idea.gif

well i think its quite lonely if u dont have friends to discuss studies...u tend to lose the rhythm..u need motivation and that comes from constructive criticism frm ur friends......plz discuss...dont be a solitary reaper.........u will be lost

Quick Scroll well said 06.22.06 (1 year ago) #6

thanks for replying shinystar. i have been experiencing this problom since i came back home from college.
now weighing the pros and cons of joining a coaching centre
i hope other people will also share their thoughts with me.
on one side it seems as a good option on the other side i fear what if it turns to be a bad choice and i end up wasting precious time?
well it depends on the student but still its quite a dilemma..

This is purely my personal opinion...coaching is not essential. You can also do it alone provided you can assess yourself every now and then. If you feel that you need to have a more concrete idea of where you stand, go for a well-phased test series. What's more important than having a group or joining a good coaching is the understanding of your limitations and sincerely working on your weak areas. Introspection and the right attitude towards studies are what will eventually put you in the top slot.

yes shinystar and prebee you both are right. may be at this point of time the pretest and discussion sessions will help the most it seems to be a good alternative ot a full time coaching. also the new batch at aims is full.
yes what ultimately matters is ones own sincerety and dedication but if applied in a constructive way coaching can also help..
i am glad to see people responding to this thread.
i started it coz i felt that many people are in the same boat as i am in.
also i havent heard form any one in rxpg who has said that he got beniffited from coaching.. i would invite any such preson who took coaching and got a rank!!
i hope this forum will benifil all of us who are in a delimma weather to join a coaching or not.

hey guys.......
watch out!!

group study has disadvantages as well esp if the partner is too smart than uve thought!!

heres my experience!!

i studied wid so called friend of mine 4 whole one year but---------
it ws only after the results of variuos exams started pouring in i started figuring out the huge gap bw our ranks

despite spending more than 12 hrs a day 2gether learning ,in same way ,studying same buks, mugging every small things 2gether as well giving time 2 oder partner till both learn it at same level....

some may argue that maybe 2 people cant achieve the same level as there may be some diff in brain FEATURES
some might say LUCK is a gr8 role 2 play----but hardwrk can change ur destiny as LUCK IS WHEN OPPORTUNITY MEETS PREPARATION!!

but u know what
after she joined one of her stream of choices of the various options she had,,,,,,,,,
she told me herself (in parts )she wd study even outside our study time n never divulged it b4,
studied many more buks for the extra edge esp over me as i ws one of her main competitors...she wanted 2 get better of me 1st ,then nybody else!!
i ws shattereddddddddddddddd 2 say d least------i still cant get over it----the rude shock that changed me completely---i cant trust nyone now
cant make friends as well AS once bitten is twice shy!!!

shes moved ahead ,doing 2nd yr PG in one of the most reputed colleges in north
n i m stiill studying all alone at home in the lurch of one pg seat

n iff i clear AIPGE o7---ill be 2 yr junior 2 my one time best friend whom i trusted d most---but painfully i ws jst a time pass 4 her........

Nyways i m nt discouraging ny body
bcoz my bitter experience doesnt mean everyone will hav d same

bt jst sending a wave of caution
so that noone goes thru ever what i experienced
I myself ws encouraged 4 group studying after seeing many successful examples amongst our seniors!!
BUT I WD ADVISE TO THE BEGINNERS
its better if ----ur nt best friends but share a gr8 wrkng relation n comfort level
------make ur plans clear b4 hand 2 each other
------divide ur time bw self study n group study
-------better if u study mcqs more n subject alone
HAPPY STUDYING GUYS
