yeah its very true that unless you do superspecialisation there will be hardly any difference between you and a GP.

no doubt medicine is the most satisfying branch practisewise but when it comes to money it is NOT so satisfying.

if you are from a city like varanasi , agra , noida ,etc then with MD medicine degree you should be prepared to practise at periphery. but if yu are from a small suburb then its a very good branch to go for.

while you are studying this brach is very good because all the PGs get the same stipend. but when you start earning , with this branch, you will get frustrated.

moreover future for MD medicine is not very good . because just like in america MD medicine will become the lowest paid branch in india as well . simply because of the reason that its not a speciality. while MD in paed., anaestheisa, etc is a speciality .

i was getting MD medicine but due to all these reasons i took MD Anaesthesia .

so be wise . dont just look for academics and work satisfaction . financial satisfaction is equally important.

i know a lot of people will contradict me on this but this is my way of thinking. it may not be correct for you. there are many people who rate work satisfaciton much higher.

so best of luck.

that's what i have been saying. after knowing all the pros and cons you should make the decision based on your own intellect and reasoning.

something which is right for me may not be right for you. so the final decision lies with you.

but to make matters a bit simple. if your family has sufficient financial standing than you may opt for medicine but if your family doesn't have sufficient standing financially , than dude its high time that you started earning. in simple words go for a branch which has good earning potential.

but having said this , finally it should be your decision .

best of luck again.

hi,
taking medicine or pediatrics depends on how much you are keen on pursuing a career ahead of postgrad.
if you want to pursue DM , medicine is better. if you feel that pg done is the end of the road for you then you can take up pedia
since you are from Gujarat , then a career as a physician or a pediatrician, now is better in smaller towns than big cities
if you are female, then pedia is a better option to choose.
