Well, well .it seems that many of you are worried about the PG entrance already.
My dears go slow. You are just at the beginning of your journey.Stay with the flow. What you are going to learn now is the foundation of your lives and career in Medical field.

When in second MBBs do your subjects thoroughly .Pharmac and patho are very important for PG entrance.Don't take short cuts.Read Robbins and KDT from cover to cover.Believe me,this will pay off in the long run.

Third MBBS part 1 is the time when you should start your PG prep, not before. So chill and do your paraclinicals really well.Ultimately ,it is these which count in entrances.

hey....these are my last 6 mnths in 2nd MBBS.....
Pls tell me how should i go through.....

superashdoc
Aim DNB Part 2

Ok dr.dude, first take a deep breath and say-"I am gonna make it".

Then fix yourself a daily time-table.

1.Pharmac-your biggest challenge. You must do one chapter per day.Start with the very important ones like cardiac drugs or penicillins.Do one chapter a day .Today you could do anti-anginals.Tomorrow peptic ulcer drugs, this way.Don't be rigid about the system..whatever you feel like and what is often asked.Learn those drugs by heart.Tripathi is the book. Also buy his mcq book and immediately solve the Qs from that. This should take 2 hours of your daily schedule.

2.Pathology-Go Qbank wise.Take 2 long answers each day and learn them by heart from Harsh Mohan. This should take you about 1 and half hour.

3.Microbiology-Read one bacteria/.virus on every alternate days.this should take you 1-1 and half hour. Thus totally 5 hours of study per day along with you college.

4.Forensic-on days when you do not read micro read a chapter of forensic.Solve the mcqs from singhal. If you continue this, within 3 months you will have covered all your portion once.

Dont give up.Dont try to compare with others. The time of comparison is only in exam and never before.

Reserve your best for the prelims and finals.Enjoy being a dark horse.enjoy being a winner.

OK Shunty. This is your year where you can enjoy and learn at the same time. The key is "BE REGULAR" so that you can have fun as well.

Pharmacology:It is a test of your memory and nothing else.So dont bother about making it interesting by reading satoskars or Katzungs.K.D.Tripathi is the best book to score and learn pharmac at the same time.Stick to it even if some of the internal exams are based upon Other texts.Finals are the most important and trust me KDT is going to give you a D if you read it 3-4 times.

As I have mentioned before,do only one category of drugs everyday and that too 3 days of the week only. Will take you 3 hours.Make notes or learn it directly -but finish it.Category means-diuretics,anti hypertensive, aminoglycosides -like these.

Pathology:This is a bit of a dilemma.Robbins is the ultimate. But Harsh Mohan is great for the exams.Go through both and decide for yourself. Both followers get through in the exams.First give a good read of all topics. At least 25 pages per day. Then start studying using Qbank and Q-A format.

Read it for the remaining 3 of your weekdays.

Now Sunday:Meant for Micro and Forensic med.
Micro-Ananthnarayan is the big boss.No competition.Parasitology-I found Ichupujani adequate.Chatterjee was a bit difficult to grasp for me.
2 chapters to be done every sunday.

Forensic-Reddy is a great book.Even tocxicology given well there.Or you can use singhal's toxicology booklet.Read 1 chapter every sunday and solve mcqs from singhal's mcq book.

Rest of the sunday afternoon and night -enjoy!Freak out with friends, watch a movie just relax.

Try it .

Well go for AAA(Amit,Ashish,Arvind) by pulse publications.Do the first and second MBBS subjects MCQs.They are given chapter-wise and so you can easily read one chapter at a time and then solve related mcqs.

As for the books,I have already mentioned them.Dont think too much of the future.Be right here right now.Take your time to leran basics or else you will end up with superficial knowledge.

Remember, all toppers in the entrances are those who know their texts well rather than mcqs.

First of all let me tell you that KDT is the only pharmac book that we are referring even for PG entrance.Pharmac is all about memory and not understanding.Lippincott is a good book but not complete. So pls do KDT only -you wont regret it ,I assure you.

Singhals is the book for mcqs in forensic.P would suggest that you refer the PG entrance book Amit-asish-arvind for the remaining mcqs. They are given topic -wise.Usually your papers will be set from these books.

I suggest that you start with infectious diseases and symptomatology first. It is a huge section and also very important. Moreover it goes well with micro which you will be studying in 2nd MBBS.It will also help you next year in PSM.So ideally you should be thorough with that.

As for the book,I think Harrison is best.It cannot be challenged at UG level and is the BIble.Even questions from surgery are sometimes picked form Harri and its answers are considered superior to Bailey in authenticity.Go slow but sure.Don't rush.

well at this pt i dont think its worth putting money in a big book like GG since it will most definitely b obsolete by the time u reach pre pg stage...stick to tripathi..and you can always refer GG frm ur coll lib..also after u read a particular topic make sure dat u solve all MCQ of that particular topic from AAA and MARK DEM in your tripathi..it will take some time but beleive me it will help a lot..every time u open ur book for revision u will remeber those MCQS

ruchiajain

infact all subjects should be read that way in 2nd yr..even robbins..especially Gen. Path... after u read the txt bk for the first time make it a pt to solve the topic wise MCQ's frm a book like AAA and MARK DEM in jur bk..and revise dem everytime u read..dis way ul b miles ahead of those who hav not read frm MCQ pt of view at all
it takes a lil xtra effort and time but IT IS WORTH IT...it might save ur 1 yr drop post internship...make good use of the entire 1.5 yrs..start from day 1

ruchiajain

also 2nd yr is the best time to involve urself in research projects..ICMR projects can b a good ebemlishment in ur CV...especially while applying for DNB or USMLE/MPH..if u can get somthing published in a journal..icing on the cake..but for all this u have 2 keep ur eyes and ears open..keep an eye on departmental notice boards..take part in contests/debates/presentations..for eg mumbai has a Bombay Medical Congress competitition...

ruchiajain

i am saying this out of personal experience..i deeply regret having a laid back chalta hai attitude in my UG days..but i cant change dat and im posting this so dat atleast som1 benefits frm my mistakes
Dont develop a one track mind..der hav been instances of brilliant students performing miserably in entrance exams and at such times their extra curricular but academic achievements like the ones i mentioned above helped dem secure a dnb seat.in good institutes..also it is equallly important to have good marks in ur ug theory xams...a distinction is a distinction and it will matter during DNB interviews and while applying for USMLE..

life is not easy..u have to make urself stand out in a crowd at evry step..infact ur battle has jus started..remember well begun is half done..
