Quick Scroll Good Histology Book? 07.22.06 (2 years ago) #1

Can anybody tell me a good histology book which give lots of useful information? I have diFiore's atlas and the drawings in that book are awsome but information is less and I have I.B Singh (where the drawings are marginally better than my 2 year old cousin's) but that gives me less information too. There is a book called Allan something........I'm unable to remember the name though.

I appreciate your reply THEROCK but the questions that they ask us in the VIVA are found in neither of the books.

i ve just passed out 1st mbbs.
pls do not think dat histo is not important.u wil realize d imp of histo wen u thru d complete syllabus.proper understandin of histo helps in understandin Physiology .if u hv understood histo n proper Anatomy of an organ,u urself can guess d function of d organ.
i usd g.p.pal 4 histo.equivqlent 2 i.b.singh.but a gud one.der is a vol of buks 4 gross anat of a.k.dutta.histo regardin abdo is given very nicely in dat buk.n histo regardin cns is given in neuroanat vol.hnf vol deals wid relatd histo.these buks r definitely btr as dey provide more info dan i.b.singh.
our teachers always suggestd Ham's histo or Gray's anat.u can refer them.at least u wil b able 2 understand histo nicely thru these buks as d sub itself is very easy.i would suggest u to go thru ref buks.just 2-3 hrs study once a week 4 histo but regularly thruout d year is very much sufficient.
just do not try 2 identify d slides.try 2 go beyond dat.
all d best!!

frankly speaking i never read ny book on histology although i had bought IB Singh.

we had lots of information in our journals (record book) i read from that.
and in the theory exams only the diagrams are important so practice those which you make in the journal. for the viva journal is more than enough.

Basic Histology by Junquiera is a great book. One reading is more than enough.I.B Singh is boring and packed with unnecessary details......

This book is a Lange book and has many diagrams from Ganong and vice-versa.It also has clinical correlates to Histophysiology,so ur physio knowledege also is increased many fold.

i think IB Singh is good and sufficient for exams .If u have particular interest then u can go for other books.follow the atlas just before the exam thats more than enough.
