Quick Scroll orthopaedics residents in romania..... 08.01.06 (1 year ago) #1

Hi ....I'm a resident in orthpaedic surgery in 2nd year in romania. It is 6yrs course ......too long icon_sad.gif I always wished to study in india but couldnt make it.I have some queries abt in M.S in india....want to see how the studies from india and romania differ...
Here I get to see 4 -5 arthroscopies everyday, 1 ACL reconstruction everyday. We have 2-3 hip or knee endoprosthesis everyday ( mostly hip)and obviously all traumatology. We also do vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty but these are done once or twice a month. Here we have started doing lumbar fusion in last 3yrs but spinal surgeries are 4-5 per month as most of the cases are done by neurosurgeons. We hardly do the hand reconstruction, tenoplasty etc. as they are done by microsurgery and hand reconstruction surgeons.
The OR are well equipped--- two c- arms, three arthoscopic apparatus and the latest spine instruments donated by americans.
The Prof. and my guide are really nice...and here there is nothing like harrassment or senior-junior thing....very cooperative n teach in english n in romanian, no rascism...even being a sikh. Here if I want I can also get 3-6 months fellowship in u.s.a...(I really hate to see amaricans...may be indian political reasons)...but f....how they operate, i really love that.It is easier for me to go to Germany, austria , italy for fellowships. The things which worry me are....I want to come back and practice there in india at any cost...I know that my p.g.degree is not valid there in india....can i work there in private...how will it be...??? I have passed this MCI FMGE exam....BUT I want that when I come back to India , I shouldnt feel that I dont know this and that ....n i repent over my decision.
Here we work from 8am. -4 p.m. every day...5 days week. I'm second or third hand assistant in surgeries in on an average 2 surgeries per day.As i read in this forum..doctors from india work a lot...we dont
have so many patients as compared to india. Sometimes ..like the thing you r deprived of, u want that the most....i had always dreamt of doing my medical stu. in india so i always feel that it is better in india...i must pack up my bags and study in india for p.g. exams n do it there. Rgd the fees I'm on scholarship...so dont have to pay nthing but that doesnt matter....
Plz someone help me in ....what do the residents do in India, how many surgeries per day first hand or 2nd hand, how many arthoscopies endprosthesis per day.....or whatever u think u do n may help me plz tell me. How would u have felt had u been there in Romania at my place..dont want that when I come back....I be laughed at by other docs.

As the degree from romania will be valid from 1st jan 07 throughout european union...i see a bright future as all the specialists who have done it from romania dont have to take any exams... THere are lots of MRCS and FRCS operating in india in private..i will do it in the same way....
