immigration to Canada
, and H1 (non immigrant visa) to usa. both countries in north america.
dont mention it in interview unless u have immigration. other wise u'll be outrightly rejected.

U R APPLYING FOR 'NON'- IMMIGRANT VISA,
AT THE SAME TIME U HAVE APPLIED FOR IMMIGRATION TO A NEIGHBOUR COUNTRY(Canada
) , SO U R WEAKENING YOUR INTENTION OF NOT IMMIGRATING TO USA.
THE RULE OD CONSULATE IS ALWAYS AND ALWAYS " EVERY NONIMMIGRANT APPLICANT IS A POTENTIAL IMMIGRANT UNLESS PROVED OTHERWISE"
SO IT WILL BE DIFFICULT TO PROVE THAT UR NOT GONNA MIGRATE TO USA, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME U R INTENDING TO MIGRATE TO Canada
.
THIS I'M REFERRING TO B2 VISA FOR CS.
FOR H1, I THINK I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE TO ADVISE.

I must say Medisid is very wise person But if you are canadian migrant, it does make it possible to give in person interviews in USA, which is must for many good medical residencies. Focus on getting US residency first....many options will be available in career thereof! And sooner or later, u will find someone in the US most people got their green cards...so u are not going to be left out either
bye

dear medisid
if i am a canadian immigrant, then naturally the chance to get immigrated to US will be less, is n't it. then the possiblity to reject the visa will also be less.,but i feel that you are thinking in the otherway......am i correct?

Deepsi,
First of all stop to think about visa rejections and negative thoughts. Second, it is not so complicated as you think or as people project it.
As I said, getting residency position in USA is the step 1 and for that you need to give personal interviews in USA...So Canada
immigration will help. A Canada
immigrant needs no visa to go to USA! It is a free border.
After doing residency, you will either get a job or do fellowship...in that time period, u usually get a green card.
So stop worrying about H-1 visa or other stuff. Being a Canada
immigrant does not stop you from getting a green card eventually, rather it makes it easy!! So get your Canada
immigration and keep study USMLE
....I live in USA, so u can take my words 100%! OK?!

u didnt get my point
the primary hurdle which was for USMLE
& residencies were that u were denied visa-s for giving CS.
this year onwards they have informally relaxed the norms for B2 visa for CS applicants and most get visa.
previously they were denied [email address in profile]
2 visa on ground that every(95%) doc who went usa for residency never returned back and applied for immigrantion.
so they were being wary of docs.
after u clear CS then only u can think of h1 / j1 / greencard. those things r later to be thought of.
so i say CS( or its visa) is the step1 and most important hurdle for IMGs, considering the fact that so many ppl even after clearing steps 1 and 2 were being denied visa for CS.
if u get US visa once then there's very less chance of rejection nexttime., if u want for intervu or etc.
but if u get Canada
immigration by the time u want CS, then immigration is the best option.
one more fact i want to state
any person who has filed immigrant visa to usa ( either due to marraige or by realtives filing GC or green card lottery) have their 'non' immigrant visa rejected, if they apply during the time their immigrant visa petition is being processed/ or after their rejection of immigrant visa.
i may not live in usa, but i do try to keep accurate info
