RxPG answered this query long back in the following post.
I'm jus quoting him out:

IN 1996).,worked in private hospitals, did a Joint replacement fellowship and currently doing private practise. I am not happy with the working conditions, lifestyle and career prospects, seeking advise on specific querries |
Well, if you have passed ms orthopaedics
in 1996 then you need not give PLAB
or MRCS
. You can come to UK through a different route i. e. HSMP [Highly Skilled Migrant Programme]. Through it you will get a work visa in UK even before you get any job. You will be called to UK with some shortlistings and then you can pick and choose your hospital. You will start working at Specialist registrar level and will be promoted to consultant invariably. Your PG degree will be accepted as an equivalent to MRCS
degree i.e. u will be the member of the royal college of surgeons without any exam. But there are some conditions for that. To see whether you fulfill those conditions or not just see this article on RxPG site
You can search the rxpg site for more opportunities under the section "PLAB
Jobs"

How to people with Ms orthopaedics
give MRCS
from India.how do they show gen surgery, accident emergency and other training rotations. can overseas tutors in India help by mentioning these rotations in log book. Whom to contact or what is the earliest route to give MRCS
|
Yups, all this will be required when u will apply for HSMP. MRCS
is not needed as i explained.

How much can a Sho save with an average living with a family of wife and 2 children singly and combining wifes income fulltime or parttime. My wife is MS Obs
and Gynae
, what are the job prospects in this branch
|
A sho earns around 2000 £ per month after tax. But you are quite senior and also u will strt at higher level. You can expect to get something around 3000 pounds. Hand to mouth existence for one person in UK is around 300£, comfortable is 500-700£ and lavish is 1000£. I think as a normal family with all the expenses u should not spend more than 1500-2000£ a month. That is a saving of around 4000$ per month if ur wife is also working. Your wife have good xp and options in Gynae
Obs
are not bad in UK.

is it possible to get a job in the same city for both husband and wife
|
I know someone who was working in a different city than his wife but got a transfer to the same city by pleading that his kids are young and need him also. But it is all relative. While applying for HSMP, mention this to the relevent person.

What are the chances of getting Specialist registrar or later becoming a consultant |
I have already explained that.

read in athread that cant get a visa for csa from uk, how can one go to take csa directly from uk without coming back |
Well if you are on a work permit in UK then you can apply for USA visa from UK itself. But it is a very complicated process and lot of people avaoid that. Anyway, if u go to USA then you will have two disadvantages:
1. U will have to do the residency again, but in uk u are getting at SpR level.
2. You have passed out in 1996 and for USMLE
having a MBBS degree more than five year old is as good as a disqualification. It is highly unlikely that the hospitals will call you fo interviews there.

Chances of migrating to austrakia,nz from uk better after clearing MRCS
or before it.is it necessary to clear amc in Australia
after MRCS
|
No AMC is not required in Australia
after MRCS
. I suggest you to spend four years in UK, get UK nationality and then migrate to Australia
or New Zealand
if u wish to. But you wont want to do that if ur chances of becoming a consultant are good. Anyway, UK is a very expensive country to afford a decent life than Australia
, New Zealand
or USA.
| Quote: |
7)Aust,nz, usa ,UK which is easiest to migrate and Quickest. In which country the chances of continuing with your speciality branch are highest
|
| Quote: |
will it be difficult to get a training rotation for a old postgraduate to complete the trainining rotations to sit for MRCS
.Is the age and postgraduate degree going to be a hinderance in career pathway |
These queries are now irrelevent after the discussion above. Isn't it??
| Quote: |
ARE YOU HEARING OF AN eEXCEPTIONAL CASE OR DO OLD POSTGRADUATE PLAN THIS WAY
|
No everybody who wants to migrate out of india talk in the same way. Well this could be the reassurance from the psychiatrist in me.
| Quote: |
Need you frank and sincere advise about the job situation in UK before taking a plunge, is it worth it regarding money, professional satisfaction and immigr |
Well i am frankly and sincerely advising you to take a plunge in UK. But if Unfortunately you are not eligible for HSMP, then think at least 100 times before coming by MRCS
route...there will be too much struggle!
All the best buddy |
the entire thread is here:
hope this helps u!
gud luck!
