The advertisement for SSC usually comes in the leading news papers during Jul to sep
You can apply to the office of DGAFMS on a plain paper stating your preference for Army, Navy Or Airforce, although the selection to a particular service will be based on the vacancy.
Commissions will be granted by the Government of India on the recommendations of the AMC Selection Board on the terms and conditions laid down.
Commissions will be granted for a period of 5 years in the first instance and will be extended for such periods as the first instance and will be extended for such periods as the DGAFMS may decide subject to the conditions that the total SSC service of the officer does not exceed 10 years or beyond the age of 55 years.

hi shalabh, u have mentioned the same warning somewhere else also.. so i want to know which type of problems a ssc mo has to face? i am going to appear for th einterview in july so it would be so nice of u if u tell me in some detail. do u have some bad experience in arm forces?? can i live with my FAMILY? money will not be the problem for me. no prob with frequent transfers if i can bring my FAMILY along. i am very much interested in arm forces. considering all these things, is it advisable for me to join ssc. i have completed my mbbs 1 yr back.

hey kashyap!
well seems that u are an aspirant like me to joing the defence.
when did u apply for the scc?
have u got the call letter?
when is the next scc is scheduled?
can u please update me.
well just to solve ur quer.i have got friends in air force both as medical officer and flying officers at good rank.
medical officers are having very good life out there but the only problem is that the posting sometimes comes at very odd places where there is no life at all.
and the income and facilities wise its also good but the exposure is very less coz th eturn of patient is less at a air force station and the multispecilaity centres are only in main centres like delhi ,jaipur and few other.
so the exposure is less as compared to a medical officer in other private hospital.
hope this will b ok with u
take care
