Quick Scroll Medical University - Pleven, Bulgaria 10.24.06 (1 year ago) #1

I am a recent graduate from the Medical University - Pleven, Bulgaria.
It is a 6 year MBBS course, medium of instruction is English.
If anyone is interested in more information they can check out the website
Only RxPG members can see links here! Register or Sign In!

The annual fee is 3800 Euro. Living expenses would be around 2000 Euro annually
I am quite satisfied with the studies there, its the next best thing to getting admission in India.
They conduct 2 academic sessions, one starts in spetember and the other starts in February. You should ideally start admission proceedings 6 months in advance as it is quite time consuming.
If anyone needs more info you can get in touch with me.

HI,
The trend has changed students started going to CHINA and the conditions in china are good for studying and the fee is almost half compared to what u pay in bulgaria.

overall cost in BG is 20-22lakhs(English medium)
overall cost in china 13-15lakhs(English medium)
overall cost in Russia 10-12lakhs(russian medium)

all the 3 countries have good infrastructure of hospitals. so it doesnt matter where u study.so the best option is china at present for cheaper package with medium of instruction in english.

I was not comparing BG with other places. I merely mentioned my satisfaction with BG. But since youre comparing.

The quality of education varies with the price you are willing to pay for it.

You said
-overall cost in BG is 20-22lakhs(English medium)
-overall cost in china 13-15lakhs(English medium)
-overall cost in Russia 10-12lakhs(russian medium)

I would like to add (very approximate ranges)
- cost Hungary 25-30 lakhs
- cost Czech Republic 45 lakhs

As you go west the prices go up, it depends on the individuals capacity on what they are willing to pay. Of course there are advantages in studying in the Czech Republic over studying in Bulgaria, but its much more expensive.

Bulgaria is more expensive than China because its a European country, u have other advantages there that you dont have in China. Apart from that chinese colleges have just started out in english, u can read how students are faring there and the problems they are facing from the posts on this forum itself. Whereas Bulgaria has been teachin in english for the past 8-10 years.

Each place has its pros and cons, its upto the individual to decide where they want to go. Or whether in the first place they really want to go thru the headache at all, instead ditch it and go in for an MBA :p

And I dont agree with things like 'the trend has changed' and going with the trend. The same thing may not be suitable for all.

It does matter where you are studying, there are things other than an MBBS degree that you need to do in order to have something to write on your CV, and a degree from certain places will not give you any exposure or the possibility to broaden your horizons.

Six years is a long time so make sure you spend it in the right place.

Quick Scroll PG in Bulgaria 02.18.07 (1 year ago) #6

Please keep in mind that No Foriegn Post Grad degrees are recognized in India

That having been said , if you are still interested (for your own reasons icon_question.gif ) in doing PG abroad, Bulgaria is definitly better than some other options (which I will not name here :p ) . Cost is approximately the same as quoted for MBBS in a previous post.

Impt - Language of instruction for post grad degrees is Bulgarian (Please keep in mind that wherever you go, the language of instruction for Post graduation will be the native language of that country please dont expect post grad in Russia to be in English, that is all rubbish)

You will be learning Bulgarian intensively for the first 6 months after joining. And then you will start your residency/post grad degree

The duration varies from 3-5 yrs depending on the speciality chosen.

Hope that helps!

BG sucks. Don't go there. Very bad conditions, stupid teachers, coruption and mafia. Forget it. 30% of the bg physicians are drivers for pharmaceutical companies, 30 % are abroad and 30 % have very misrable life and 10 % are very rich, but have business and cinections with the mafia.

I agree, conditions for Bulgarian docs are not very good because of the low salaries etc. But when you go there, you don't go there with the intention of working in Bulgaria after graduating so it should not concern you.

Corruption and mafia is universal, and it doesnt affect your life as a student. Bulgaria is as safe as a place can be.

Fees of 3800Euros per year is very high .while you can get at much cheaper in other countries for a MBBS degree.

Please note that most of the UNiversities in Bulgaria don't offer PG in English.
