A 35-year-old woman is admitted to hospital. As part of a liver screen the following results are obtained:
he earaer aeraer asdsadas eerw dssdfsselleds
Anti-HBs Positive
Anti-HBc Positive
HBs antigen Positive
he earaer aeraer asdsadas eerw dssdfsselleds
Anti-HBs = Hepatitis B Surface Antibody; Anti-HBc = Hepatitis B Core Antibody; HBs antigen = Hepatitis B Surface Antigenhe earaer aeraer asdsadas eerw dssdfsselleds
What is the patient's hepatitis B status?
A. Probable hepatitis D infection
B. Acute hepatitis B infection

Something should be wrong with the question. I don't think that all three can be positive at the same time.

Voxel is right all 3 cant be present at the same time...how can antigen and anti bodies be there at the same time
HBsAg is present in chronic low infectivity phase of infection but at that time Anti HBs is negative
Anti HBs is present in past infection with negative HBsAg and positive Anti HBe

D. Chronic hepatitis B
notes for doctors about the hepatitisB
-surface antigen (HBsAg) is the first marker to appear and causes the production of the anti-HBs
-HBsAg normally implies acute disease( for 1-6 months)
-if HBsAg is present for >6 months then this implies chronic disease ( i.e. infective)
-Anti-HBs implies immunity ( either exposure or immunisation)
-HbeAg results from breakdwon of core antigen from infected liver cells as is therefore a marker of infictivity
-we can say previous immunisation: if anti-HBs positive, all others negative
-we can say previous hepatitis B (>6 months ago), not a carrier: if anti-HBc postive, HBsAg postive

"we can say previous hepatitis B (>6 months ago), not a carrier: if anti-HBc postive, HBsAg postive"
Dr.Karim I beg to differ,we can say previous hepatitis ,not a carrier if Core antibody & HBsAB & not Ag is positive.Whenever HBsAg is positive ,that makes a person carrier.
