Quick Scroll Master of Public Health (MPH) 01.04.07 (1 year ago) #1

Hi friends,

I am interested in doing Master of Public Health (MPH) from UK. Can any one tell me what are the prospects of doing the course in UK? What are the jobs that we can get after doing MPH in UK and outside UK? Also which universities are good for doing the course?

Thanx

Speedo

By and large Uk universities maintain a good standard....but specifically LSHTM ( one of the best in the world)...but its awefully expensive to bear unless u get a scholarship...

I had a friend who was doing her Master of Public Health here in the UK. Well there are many Universities that offer the course. She did hers in the University of Liverpool. Yes, indeed the courses are awfully expensive..anywhere between 8 to 10,000££. Its for one year, but the job prospects are not bad.

Well, considering the job situation for the doctors nowadays, I would say not bad at all!! The most prominent advantage is that you get a work permit visa for 1 year and if it is a Scotland Uni, then its for 2 years. By then, if you want to you can come into the mainstream as my friend is now trying to do. Otherwise too you can end up with good jobs with a WOWW pay in the WHO and that sort of places.

Seems good and nice, but each coin has two faces my sweets.. So look before you leap. You will enjoy the student visa status wherever you go while you are doing the course. But i think they will be asking for the applications from this March for the courses starting from September.

All the best!

Hope that was helpful.....

I guess we need to be Tatas or Ambanis or Mittals to do the course.. Thats how it is!! But you must have noticed, its about half to one third of the cost for the same course for the local graduates icon_eek.gif ..Thats what I find hard to digest.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Dear Plabfighter,

I am not sure if it is online. But she did the course from the same Uni you mentioned, the Uni of Liverpool. It is a fairly good Uni I would say. Though I have not got an inside view of the things like the course itself, but as far as the accomodation is concerned I can say that it is pretty good and there are many people from the overseas.

She did her course in the International Public Health, I hope you are going for that too. Because I heard that the job prospects for this course are really good, you can get a good job here or even the states.

Hope that helps.......

i applied for public health as part of the MTAS. if you get into a training scheme you will be able to do the course as part and parcel of the scheme - they do it to prepare trainees for college part 1 exam.
