Reference- Tripathi 5th Edition Pg no-226

Peripheral tissue specially liver and kidney,convert T4 to T3.

Target tissue take up T3 from circulation for their metabolic need except

brain and pituitary which take up T4 and convert it to T3 within their own

cells.

Also Note- Propylthiouracil and propranolol, amiodarone and

glucocorticoids inhibit peripheral conversion of T4 to T3 ( except in brain

and pituitary)

yes u r right, liver & kidney r the main organ to convert T4 to T3.

but in question they r not given, instead there is pituitary.........thats why

the ans is pit.

pituitayr & brain r the organs which don't take T3 directly, but instead

they take T4 & convert it into T3.
