hi,
u said u hv provisional reg,r u applying for FY1.I dnt knw why u want 2 do clinical attachment bcz if u h regstration ,u cn apply for jobs.anyways if u wnt 2 do attachment first try in ur nearby hospitals.u can search on drfoster[snip] website, enter ur postcode n u will get he list of hospitals near ur place.take some print outs of ur CV.go 2 hospital n ask fom reception where surgical secretaries sit,if u wnt 2 apply in surgery.all will b sitting in one office.talk 2 anyone of them n tell 2 put forward ur cv 2 consultant.do write ur contact number ovn cv.do this in medicine and other departmnts.drop ur cv 2 atleast 10-15 consultants.
alternatively on dr foster website u can see the names of consultants of a particular speciality in a hospital.call the hospital n ask them 2 put u through that consultant's secretary.u can as her that u want 2 do attachment.ask her if she gives consultant's email adress so that u can make request to he consultant directly.if she doesnt then ask her email address n mk sure that she put forward ur email 2 consultant.i think the first procedure is better cz u can apply for many consultants in different specialities in ur one visit.but ur cv should be impressive n u communicate well with secretary that she is convinced 2 help u,sometimes they say that consultants r busy n they cnt take attachment n stuff like that.if u r clever enough u can meet any of the houseoficer of a consultant n ask wt his clinic timngs are, then u cn see the consultant just after he finishes the clinic but this is a bit tricky thing.anyways do try.
all the best

problem with fy1 is that you should have a permit to work in uk
but apply u never know if a trust need you it can apply for a work permit on your behalf
i know a doc who had a cl attachment visa and applied to whole process of fp08 passed assessment and interview and trust applied for work permit on his behalf
so you never know
just keep applying,may b u get a chance
as the result of final year uk medical students is out so there are vacant posts turing up so keep applying and you never know
although sorry to say its difficult but not impossible
try you luck

and
good luck
