Harri says
Renal loss of sodium is thought to stimulate renin secretion and hyperaldostrenoism.
I think high sodium in PCT means renal loss of sodium as sodium is reabsorbed from PCT.
Please correct me if I am wrong

yeah even i think so...whenever there is high sodium in pct it means that kidney is excreting more sodiums.. and thats why he renin will come into action and then aldosterone!!!
but the answer given in salgu is.."high sodium in pct" i am confused!!!

Ans. High sodium ions in PCT

Salt excess: abnormal high NaCl content in body in presence of normal H2O leads to increase plasma osmolarity (thirst ) and ADN secretion. Therefore RAS (renin-angiotensin system) is dereased.
The additional secretion of ANP leads to increased exreation of NaCl and H2O (inreasing diuresis) and normalization of ECF volume.

Salt and Water regulation, P.170-171.

The macula densa senses Chloride content in the distal convoluted tubule. If it is high, renin secretion is increased. Now, a high salt content in the PCT will cause a rise in Cl content in the DCT.
