Hi Doctors,
I live in Scotland & I face the same problem. It is very difficult to do clinical attachment. In my opinion there must be a scheme to organise the attachment of any doctor desires to do so as the scheme in Birmingham which is still on their deanery website but when u open it, it says it s oversubscribed & closed since 2005!!!! It s really confusing & disappointing as when u apply for any vacancy they ask u about any clinical attachment done before!!!

well I have done 4 cl attachments. 1 of them was with a dr i knew thru my uncle and the other1 was with a consultant who was treating some1 in my family. Rest of the 2 were thru london deanery's scheme.
My advise would be to contact any1 u know who can introduce u to a consultant, either be relatives, friends or GP.
The only thing u need is the consultant to agree, rest is never a problem.

Hi Kanikadua

Just want to share my experience.... though I came back home in 2006 and without doing any clinical attachments (just after the work permit law). Honestly speaking I wrote a little more than 80 applications for clinical attachments and out of them 60 % I sent to Asian Consultants and rest to the local consultants and I got the oversubscribed reply from all the locals but 4 asian consultants agreed to take me as attachee. I would advise you to be very choosy when sending aplications.... don't waste your money on postage and travel....Cheers....All the best, to all..
