Page 1 of 2: FAQ: Is MS Pharmacology from US = MD Pharmacology, India?

I Vivek Phirke am an MBBS from Maharashtra .I'm interested in doing MD Pharmacology , but unfortunately couldn't score a rank even though i dedicated a whole year to studies just for post graduation.Just then i started searching on net for an equivalent degree abroad especially in US. Although i found some colleges offering M.S. in Pharmacology I'm really not sure whether getting a degree from US is equivalent to/better or worse than doing a degree in India regarding placements of job in India after completing the course.I tried asking some head of departments regarding the same point with no help.
Now I'm really lost...can you guys please help me with this issue.

Get one thing clear that u won't get anry teaching job unless u hv a MCI recognised MD degree.

Regarding the Pharmaceutical company jobs why don't u go and enquire in their corporate offices as nost of the head offices of the pharma companies are located either in Mumbai or Pune.
Please share any information you get to know about this with me.

from what i have came to know.....universities in US are better rated than in India.i havent contacted the corporate office till now but will go there soon enough.also for getting addmission in US u have to have some experience in field or have some research papers published.

Hi ,nice to find ppl like me.I've got an offer to do MSc in Pharmacology from Uk - Oxford university.But same prob- don't know whether indian pharma companies will accept a foreign degree. Did u guys get any more info on this ..plz share

well i finally have to conclusion that doing a degree in UK or US will cost u as much as 13-20 lacs ............for that much amount or mostly less than that usually less than 10 lacs u could get an indian degree through management qouta....without having to think about the other problems at all..........so i took the seat here in Maharashtra this year itself and am doing 1st year pharmac here..........best of luck to all

well i took admission in kims karad.........college good....i was charged 1.5 lac per year .........but this year the fees is expected to shoot around 3 lacs...........might give a try negotiating

job opportunities are plenty....u can join teachin/marketing/clinical trials.....which will easily give u a starting of atleast 40k pm.
no problem at all in gettin jobs...
