ICMR provides 2 months research sponsorhip( + 5000Rs stipend ) for students enrolled in MBBS course.
this year around 500 are awarded ( including me

)
and believe me, very fewppl apply for it.
on your project completiona nd approval you will be awarded a certificate from ICMR.
you have to select a topic and guide in your college and work under him.
for details refer to icmr . nic . in and look in the box stating grants. there you will find short term studentships. click on it.
feel free to ask any casual advice which u dont find on the site.

hi medisid, i did two icmr studentship in 2 and 3 yr.
i want to know if there is any other alternative available to mbbs students apart from icmr.

several other institues also offer studentships in vacation period at their own campus........
last year i came through 2 of them
1 from nbrc, gurgaon,( brain)

Can you clarify for me what is in fact MBBS and ICMR? In what country , these exams (??) are made?Where these exams are recognizable ?
Excuse me for the ignorance , I just want to clarify , if I'm interested or not .

we all were ignorant until we knew sth.......
MBBS is the degree awarded by universities in INDIA to students completing the 4.5 yr medical course.(+ 1 yr interbship)it stands for
Bachelor in Medicine, Bachelor in Surgery...(MBBS)

ICMR stands for Indian Council for Medical Research. it is the govt centre established to pomote and monitor the research activities in India related to medical field.

IF U CALL AT THE NUMBER OF DR. ROLI MATHUR, who is incharge of STS (take no from website sts page), SHE WILL BE VERY HELPFUL. i had one doubt and she promptly helped me to solve the problem..

hey...... wats the procedure for application to icmr for sts research? is it compulsory to start the project only after application or we can start on it even now?hw many students do apply n hw many get selected? wat must be the level of research material?i wanna do a project on effective ways to quit smoking... its more concerned abt sociology.... is it elligible?

plz reply to the above qustion! i shall be thankful!

the application will be open in january and till march 2nd week.
first u go and find a guide from your medical college( for smoking topic, goto PSM dept.) choose him as your guide ........
from my experince i think if your topic is even slightly worthy, they'll select. from my college 3 ppl applied 2 got selected, the boy who got rejected , was coz he didnt choose a topic fairly!!!
sociology topic,i????? i think PSM covers all the subjects, even siciology to an extent. go and choose a dynamic PSM teacher of your college, and show him the details from the icmr website short term studentship section....
