Page 1 of 1: When to take GRE for Spring 2008

Hi Everyone,

I would like to apply for courses starting during Spring of 2008. I can't take up GRE before end of June as I need more time to prepare, and I know many a colleges would have started to accept applications by then.

I would like to know...
If I start applying during July end or early August, would it bring any 'harm' to my getting into a reasonable college. Reasonable in the sense... One that provides sufficient aid, and has a good reputation. (I am not looking for the best of colleges here, but average and above average.)

What other factors should I consider, if I plan to take up GRE this late, for Spring of 2008. I would prefer not to postpone to applying for Fall of 2008 for personal reasons.

Since I don't have many friends, my only source for information is web and forums, and hence I am quite dependent on replies that I obtain here. So please do reply.

genralli some univs accept aplications thru out the year and some start their spring appli process by june 15 or so..
So, u need to write ur GRE by july august and then appli for univs asap.and send the GRE score report after 4 weeks, when it is available.
GRE score report services become available abt 4-6 week after the exam date.
so plan accordingly.

take it a month earli cos few good univs have deadlines for fall on jan15th...... i mean if u r looking for an asstship or fellowship.
or els the dates are genralli frm feb 15 th onwards.

i'm planning too apply for fall 2008.so i'm planning to take my GRE test in aug....as u said it wud take 6-8wks to let know the scores....and again for i20 it wud again take some more time.....
so vishnu it wud be great if u suggest any time plan sort of thing to me for going for visa in jan 2008...and also heard about GRE test revised pattern....is that already changed or it is going to be....and also i need a study partner for aug....

hru doing

its that ki if u write the GRE test today u will know the scores except analytical section, so within 4 weeks u r scores will be awarded for AWA section.
u cn call them up and know if ur scores have arrived in their database or not.

so once the scores are there in their database u can send the score reporting to univs no matter if u get a paper score report to ur address or not.

So u can select few univs which u r seriousli thinking to appli before going to give GRE , and score report freeli to 4 univs after the exam, so that wud save u Rs 750 into 4 = Rs 3000 ( three thousand bucks)

So if u r taking it in august, take it in 3rd week for suppose, ur results will be out in september 3rd or 4 th week, call them enquire abt it in that week. U can start ur application processes to univs well before that and once the GRE report is released , u can do the score reporting in that period of 1-2 weeks on fone., so dat u can complete ur application process well in time..

Hi Every one,

I am new to this forum, and want some help. My vocabulary is not vey good, my weaker araes are Analogies, and Antonyms (for Verbal). And i have only 1 month to prepare for the exam, my Exam date is in 2nd week of Nov 2007. Can some1 pls teme, when i will get my score report? as i have to apply for Scholorship.

One month is not enough to practise everything, especially if your vocab is weak. Is your maths good enough to get 700? if it is, then spent the next 20 days out of your month , to practise for vocab, amd then maybe you can get a good score on GRE .
Preliminary scores are given the moment u finish your exam, your scores are sent to the selected universities within 2 weeks.
