I would like to tackle the USMLE , I got the books from a friend, but I'd like to know more about the "area of need" in Australia ?? would it be a good choice to follow while preparing for the exams?

They have lot of AON vacancies but mostly GP posts and Emergency Medicine CMO post. To apply for GP position you have to have full time GP experience. Having some GP qualification like MCGP, DFM is an added advantage. For CMO post they asking for emergency experience several years.

I have done lot of search about AON and I have inquired over the phone several vacant places. No hard and fast rules. If you can satisfy them with your experience and qualifications, you will get positive response from them. USLME won't do for Australia like NZ. If you have GP experience ( full time or part time (10.5 hrs/week) and if you have some GP qualifications (MRCGP) you can get a GP post easily. But do not submit false work experience because they are tight on that assessment. I know a doctor who was asked to leave the GP job before complaining to the Medical Board.
