hi all!
i remember reading in some thread that the state of california bars fmg's from doing residency or practising medicine . is that true? is there any specific reason for that.
i might be repeating what has already been answered but, sorry i just couldnt locate the thread, so writing in.

I guess u need to have what they call as California letter before u are eligible to apply for a residency. IMGs can certainly get one but how i'm not sure.

The california letter is the PTAL (Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter). All i know is that it takes 6-8 months to get this after clearing your steps. so you gotta plan early. Rest you gotta find out from their wesbite.

California letter is one of them.
