hi everbody..i`m in need of all ur opinions for a confusing choice that has formed a big problem for me....but plz be patient to read all my message.... i graduated fom faculty of medicine here in egypt 1 year ago.now i`m in the stage of GP(stage of takleef as it`s called here).after another year i have the right to apply for residency to start my speciality.the problem is that i`d like 2 get high training in my most favorite speciality which is special surgery like orthopaedics,ENT
,vascular surgery.it is not difficult to get residencies of such specialities here in egypt.but surgical training is very poor here and this is the point...on the other hand, for the purpose of good training i think ab USMLE
especially i have 2 important items;money and american relatives who can help me,but the point here is even if i pass the exams i may not be able to get surgical residencies there...some times i say to my self(residency in the usa in the least preferable speciality 4 u would let u like it most)but then i say what would the benefit be if i succeed in getting residency in a branch i doesnt prefer..so what are ur opinions?which i should follow;my heart which likes surgery most or my mind which seeks high training?

I understand your predicament. It is indeed a tough choice to make.
The choice is ultimately yours though.
Had I been in your shoes, I would have preferred to pursue orthopaedics
.. wherever .. in whatever conditions. I know it is easier said than done.
Weigh your options. If you are ready to compromise your speciality in exchange for a good lifestyle and better future in US, then go for it.
The ball is in your court my friend.. No country is better or worse as such.. It all depends on what you are looking for.

I agree with tinkerbell. It is YOU who'll have to decide your own priorities. If you know you can't compromise on the branch of your choice and US is where your heart is, just go for it with full force and leave no stone unturned. These are difficult branches to get, but not impossible if you give your 100% effort.
Still if you don't then based on your priorities you can decide whether to take a lesser branch in US or return to specialize in your home country.
There is another thread on similar topic, go through it too..
