when DNA has to split say for replication there are special sequences called the consensus sequences with predominant nucleotides of T and the other i forgot [its in lippincott under DNA structure and replication chapter ] there the enzyme helicase s remove the hydrogen bonding between the b ase pairs and its called the replication bubble in which u see the 2 strands of DNA seperate ,and u know they are anti parallel icon_lol.gif icon_biggrin.gif

dna splits from 5' to 3' end in s phase during replication..........importantly this occurs bidirecttionally in eukaryotes, one explanation for why it takes lesser time for the dna replication of the genome in eukaryotes than of bacteria
