SPSS is the gold standard for medical statistics but is prohibitively expensive to license.

If you want a good free statistical software, try Epi Info which is a public domain statistical software for epidemiology developed by US Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

You can also try CSPro which looks quite comprehensive, but we have no experience with it, so are not sure whether it would fit your needs. CSPro, short for Census and Survey Processing System is a public domain statistical package developed by the U.S. Census Bureau, Macro International, and Serpro,S.A. Its major funding was from the U.S. Agency for International Development.

spss has a free trial version for 2 weeks if that is any good- their website is hard to navigate so i just used google to find it. also i think most colleges have spss on their computers- mine does anyway, and sometimes they can give you a copy for your own computer.
