Quick Scroll FAQ: Which is your favourite Firefox browser extension? 05.21.07 (12 months ago) #1

Firefox has made our life much simpler at RxPG. All the time we use several extensions to help ourselves with various jobs, which would be otherwise cumbersome or impossible in other browsers!

Taking a cue from this another thread and a very interesting tip by vikingboy about bbcodextra extension in firefox (which is a great extension for people posting in forums), we thought that it might be the right time to ask people about their personal top favourite firefox extensions.

So go ahead, post your complete list of favourite firefox extensions and the reasons why you like them so much. Who knows that we might discover some hidden gems here icon_smile.gif

For us scrapbook by gomita with its remote synchronisation (after backing it up every six hours with FEBE) and foxmarks bookmark synchroniser are three absolutely essential extensions to coordinate work between a team that is so spread all over the globe icon_wink.gif

At present Firefoxs bookmark synchroniser 1.0.1 is the best for me. reason is simple i don't have to type and remember the links and secondly i never lost my linlks even after loading windows again because of synchronisation with net. i just retreived them back by simply logging in to my foxmarks account.

bbcodextra extension in firefox is also good for posting in forums.

thiird one is the BLUE ICE THEME. IT MAKES FIREFOX LOOK EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL.

Flashblock and Fasterfox.

Flashblock blocks the flash animations from running on my computer which slows things up.

Fasterfox: It is set at custom with no pipelinning and no precache and reduced load on the servers with maximum connections only at 8. (Fasterfox is ok if it is used carefully otherwise its unethical to enable all its options because that will eat up the bandwidth.)

Edit: Added explanations.

Let me describe My Fav Addons & why are they my favourite.

McAfee Site Advisor

If you visit a lot of websites the this is a Must Have Add-on for firefox.

Because this add-on will alert you if you enter a virus/spyware/browser hijack attempt/popup prone sites.

This extension may act a little over cautious, but thats what we need when we browse a lot of websites.

More over its of very much help while searching in google.

It will display the security status of every single website in the search result.

This is how the security warning is displayed

So i would consider this add on as an absolute necessity for any active internet user.

NO SCRIPT

Another favourite extension of mine.

Winner of the "2006 PC World World Class Award", this tool provides extra protection to your Firefox.

It allows JavaScript, Java and other executable content to run only from trusted domains of your choice, e.g. your home-banking web site, and guards the "trust boundaries" against cross-site scripting attacks (XSS).
Such a preemptive approach prevents exploitation of security vulnerabilities (known and even unknown!) with no loss of functionality...

No Script will block all Javascripts & Flash content. So webpages will display fully only when u allow a particular site to use javascript/flash.
This may be a little Nagging but once u allow a site(like rxpg) to use flash, it will never nag u again for that particular site. In spite of that Nagging feature No Script is very useful for those go for online transactions & those who visit a lot of websites.

I would recommend this add-on to every single pc user as this is the era of malwares & browser hijacks. So better be safe than sorry!

BBCodeXtra

This is one of the most needed firefox extension for RxPG users.

While typing a reply in RxPG you must have seen the button for making the texts Bold, Italic, Underlined etc. But if you are firefox one problem is that the text cant be made bold by just selecting the text and pressing the "B" button.

To solve this issue the best Firefox add-on is BBCodeXtra!

It will allow usage of BBCodes so easy in RxPG! It means it will say u a lot of time! Just select the whole text, Right click & use the option u want!

Its also useful in adding html codes & xhtml codes.

Another good option i see is the colours available 2 u for posting!
