acute otitis media usually follows viral uri, these viruses ( rsv / influenza / rhinovirus / enteroviruses) either themselves cause AOM or more commonly predispose to bacterial otitis media. most commonly strep. pneumoniae was found as the cause , H.influenzae and M. catarrhalis are the other common causative agents.

this is from harri.

so, the answer here is pneumococcus.

yes i agree with pneumococcus.

and in neonatal age group -agents are gr b streptococci(mc) and gm -ve bacilli.

pneumococcus is the right ans. - MC org in all URI & otitis media . can affect all age groups.
staph aureus seen mc in less than 1 yr .
H. influenza till 3 yrs.
hemolytic strep. -unusual . causes RHD.
