Hello babumoshai,

After having completed MD,DNB and MRCPath I, I have not had much time to look into any other exams.but I am planning to look out for smaller courses that wud enhance my skills as a clinical microbiologist.something on infection control, epidemiology etc

Hi aap,
How about doing a PDCC at SGPGI in
Infectious diseases or Lab. immunology

They sound quite good..specially being from a premier institute..
But no idea what career advantage one will have after that..and also what are the possibilities of getting into one such, with the seats being so few..anyway its worth trying I guess

these courses sound good no doubt, but in my opinion a bit of first hand practical experience in clinical Microbiology before taking on such courses always helps in identifying ur objectives in doing short courses. there is enough confusion between clinical microbiologists and medicine guys as to who shud do infectious diseases.........also there are enuf no. of MSc Phd candidates who wud qualify well in courses for lab immunology.

besides if u know the trends prevailing for clinical microbiologists in ur area of practice u can easily decide wheter such courses wud enhance ur skills.

whats of utmost importance is to continue learning even after u've finished ur degree.

Hi friends,
I read somewhere that the ABMM decides whether a particular applicant is eligible to appear for the American board exams. Though MD candidates too have cleared it the past, there are rumors that they have an increased leaning towards post PhD candidates from international universities. Hope our Canadian friend can clarify our doubts.

Hi titanic,

public health with MD micro is a very good combination esp where community health is strong. Please let me know if an individual residing in India nd practicing here cud benefit from the ABMM exam and what are the essential requirements for the same?

I have already cleared my part I MRCPath but part II completion seems to be dim for me as of now. Thanks in advance ....
ALL the best for ur exam!
