Quick Scroll Dermatology - Mystery excema 06.02.07 (1 year ago) #1

Over the past 4 years I have had an off and on excema-like condition that has been steadily increasing in intensity. At first I just had itchy eyelids that would cause small cuts in the creases of my eyelids. It has grown since then and now my whole eye socket area and beard/mustache area turn a deep red, swells, and my skin peels off for days. Lately I have developed a band across my neck that also gets red and flakes. I also occasionally get a small patch on my wrist/base of thumb area.

It seems to be a reaction to food that I eat. I am not quite able to determine exactly what food it is. I am pretty certain beer is one of the culprits.

I have seen several dermatologists, allergists and a GI doctor. Most of my time has been at allergists because the dermatologists were figuring I had an allergy of some type. After a skin prick test and later an IgE test, my doctor has determined that I have no allergies and suggests I return to a dermatologist.

I've tried many creams and pills, nothing seems to stop the rash. I am unable to eat a normal diet.

No one has yet been able to find an answer.

Here is what I have been tested for (all negative):
HIV
Lupus
IgE
Candida
Salmonella
Shigella
Campylobacter
E.Coli
Vibrio
Yersinia
Giardia Lamblia
Hepatitus C

Then the solution to your problem is obvious. Stop taking the allergy inducing substances. Unless u stop taking the allergen, the allergy wont stop.

The problem is I dont know what specifically about the beer is causing me to react, nor do I know what all of the allergy inducing substances are. I avoid what I think I should be avoiding, then suddenly I'm having a reaction again. At the moment I am on a diet of only eating boiled vegetables because thats the only thing I know is safe.

The solution is not obvious as I've been to multiple allergists and dermatologists. In spite of multiple tests, they are unable to figure out what is going on or how to help me.

If my skin test, IgE and candida test came back negative, what exactly should I be avoiding? How do I get back to a normal lifestyle?

If my first post wasn't obvious, I am stuck in a difficult situation where multiple doctors are unable to help. I am posting here in hopes of finding a different angle or a new direction to go to to solve this mystery.
