Orally administrated glucose has MORE insulin stimulating effect than i.v. injected glucose (same amount)

Dietary glucose cause secretion of many GI hormones that have insulin stimulating effect. They are GLP, GIP, CCK, Gastrin etc. The increase in plasma glucose (postprandial) also stimulates insulin secretion.

However when intravenously injected the stimulatory effect of the Insulin Stimulating GI hormones are missing.
