Quick Scroll help: frequent crashes in firefox 06.30.07 (1 year ago) #1

m using firefox for almost a couple of years now...it was going quite smooth without much problems.

i use to have some firefox crashes about 2-3 times a month..

but for the past couple of weeks the firefox crashes almost everyday sometimes 3 times a day..

a message pops up saying "firefox has encountered a problem"

on the message i click on the "send error report to mozilla" option hoping it would get better.

due to the hangups i had lost all my bookmarks as well.

what could be the problem ? and how to go about it ?
all elite techies plz answer.

Always backup important data.

1. Goto to bookmarks -> organize bookmarks -> file -> export bookmarks, to a safe location.

2. The error will be corrected in the next patch, which would be after some time. However its good that you submitted a report. icon_smile.gif

3. For very rapid (1 day) solution, go to this

its bcoz ur using 14 active extensions! disable atleast 5 of them. These addons drains pc memory a lot!

The increased crash rate may be coz of a specific extension. Just disable a few add ons and see how much is the new crash rate.

Coz of increased crashes i have disabled almost 50% of my extensions.

A low RAM(<512MB) can also increase crash rate.

@BGM:

IMO: You should find the problamatic extension by disabling one extension at a time, or using your own algorithm!
Disabling extensions randomly will not help.
Crashes due to ram are either due to bad ram (crashes of the whole system) or memory leak because of bad programs and extensions.

icon_biggrin.gif I third that

That must have been the worst opinion i ever made on solving a tech based problem. icon_biggrin.gif
I was in a hurry when answering that so just typed something and logged off.
You guys r right.

Btw when firefox crashes, there are high chances that IE 7 or opera will crash on loading the same page that caused the crash. That i can tell from my user experience. I use IE 7 when my firefox crashes and doesnt respond. If i load the same page in IE/opera, they too tend to crash. I think the flash animations and Java running on the webpage are also responsible for firefox crash.

I am using Firefox for past 6 months, surprisingly I never had crash.
I use only 9 add-ons that could be the reason. I used to have crashes with IE once or twice in a month.
But, with firefox I never had a problem.
