Quick Scroll NRI seats increased to 15 percent 07.14.07 (12 months ago) #1

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Health Secretary, Punjab to file an affidavit explaining as to why the Supreme Court directions with respect to the admissions under the NRI quota were not complied with. The case has been adjourned to Monday.

The orders were passed over a petition filed by Sohrab Arora, a resident of Patiala, against Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, and Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana.

The petitioner had sought quashing of the notification of the Punjab Government vide which in the private colleges, NRI seats have been enhanced from 7.5 percent to 15 percent of the total seats on the basis of PGET-2007 for admission in MD/MS/MDS/PG Diploma courses. The petitioner had further sought quashing of the category III and IV of NRI in Clause 39 of the notification dated March 21.

High Court had asked the Health Secretary to remain present in the court to explain as to why contempt of court proceedings should not be initiated against him.

the person has won the case and all nri that are going to be filled under cat. 3 and 4 now will be given to general category..... but the private colleges have created havoc by charging 7 lac per year for those seats and they have increased management fees to rs. 3 lac and govt seats to rs 1.15 lakhs moreover a 50% institutional quota has been madethat is against the supreme court ruling lets see what happens
