Although most of the following programs are intended for psychiatric
trainees and young investigators, we would truly appreciate it if our
more experienced members would pass the following information on to
your colleagues. We have programs for our current members as well as
our 2008/2009 Supported Trainee Program which is a wonderful way us to
introduce young researchers to the Society. Please recruit friends

who would make a valuable addition to the Society.

2. ISBD Global call for submissions – Summer 2007
It is that time again when we ask for submissions for the upcoming
issue of the ISBD Global newsletter (Summer 2007 issue to be released
in August). We consider the Global to be a wonderful outlet for
researchers, physicians, and patients to share their own thoughts,
developments and research regarding Bipolar and other related
disorders. We also welcome announcements and postings for career
development opportunities. As a valued and knowledgeable member of
the ISBD, we hope that you will become a contributor. It is only
through the active participation of our membership that the Global is
able to fulfill its potential as a valuable benefit of ISBD
membership.
Are you wondering if your article or announcement would be newsworthy?
Along with our traditional full length articles (500-1000 words) in
the area of bipolar disorder, below are some areas that we hope to
cover in our summer issue:o For those of you who attended the
7th ICBD, general FEEDBACK
and articles recalling your experience at
the conference are welcomed. We will most likely summarize the events
of the conference, featured speakers, and ISBD participation in the
conference. However, personal experiences from our members would make
wonderful additions to the recap of events.
o In both the Special Edition and Spring 2007 issues, a new
section entitled "Global Perspectives" was featured. If you have any
interesting developments, chapter formations, or other news on your
particular region, please feel free to submit a brief article. Longer
submissions are also welcome and may be featured as a main article
rather than a "Global Perspectives" brief report.
o Also, as a reminder to our Trainee members, we also feature a
section entitled "ISBD Resident Forum" where we highlight the research
and developments made by our Trainee members.
o Event notices, ISBD chapter announcements, and training and
employment opportunities are also welcomed.
If you are interested in submitting an article, please submit your
piece via email to laurac [at] isbd.org as a Microsoft Word document.
Please be sure to attach any sources, photos, or other supporting
materials that you feel should be included as a supplement. The
deadline for submissions is 31 July 2007. If you have any other
questions regarding the newsletter, please feel free to contact the
Society offices.
