Hi friends,
I have a doubt,
In internet i have been hearing about firefox "memory leaks" many a times,
What is it?
Is it another term for "memory usage"?
And how to reduce those memory leaks?

Memory leak in firefox was a bug in version 1.xx of the browser. The term "memory leak" is a bit of a misnomer as it has nothing to do with any leak. What actually happens is that firefox fails to free the virtual memory it is no longer using for other internal purposes, hence the memory usage piles up. It has been mostly fixed in version 2.xx of the browser.
How to fix it? Simple, upgrade to version 2.0+. If you still get trouble, install something like sessions manager extension.
Ideally firefox should be using between 100 to 300 K of your PC's RAM. If you see it using more than that, then it is a leak and u gotta get a "plumber" really fast.

My firefox (v2.0.0.5) is using 36MB OF RAM even in Firefox Safe Mode.
After enabling all add ons it goes up to 45MB. Is this increased usage?

You are welcome BGM.
You need to check the virtual memory usage of firefox to be sure. To see that, first select "processes" tab in task pane (as seen in your screen shot), then hit view and then "select columns". You would then be presented with a list of options, select "virtual memory size". Then you should be able to see the virtual memory size for firefox. You can also select "peak memory usage" to see if there are any intermittent outages because of some memory intensive processes.
From first look your firefox memory usage seems just fine.

One more tip. If you are using spybot search and destroy, go to advanced mode and under tools select startup options. Then untick all that you do not need to run in background (including adobe pdf whose new version is a memory hogger). I infact uninstalled norton and adobe pdf readers for this reason. In their place i use foxit pdf reader, nod32 antivirus and for torrent file utorrent. All these programs have a very low virtual memory imprint and can really make a difference to the speed of your system.
