a 42 yr old female with impaired vision in left eye since yesterday says colors looked washed out . also complians of pain in eyes on examination decreased visual acuity sluggishafferent pupillary response to light and changes in colour perception fundus shows swollen disc whts the diagnosis. vital stable
a orbital cellutis
b poptic neuritis
c acute anterior uveitis
d open angle glucoma

Retrobulbar neuritis..

Few points..
Mostly in females.
Age group ~~ 30.
18 -45 yrs
there is an association with Multiple sclerosis.
50% MS have optic neurits
about 20 % dev MS in 10 yrs.

Common symptoms include:

Blurred or dimmed vision .
A blind spot at or near the centre of vision.
Color " Wash- out" so that colors are less rich.
Pain with the movemet of eye.
tenderness of eye to touch or pressure.
complete blindness in the affected eye.

diagnosis.
Fundus may be normal ofr pale.
Pupil reaction normal.
Visual acquity is impaired.
Scotoma is precent
