Quick Scroll CS visa rejected due to low score 09.12.07 (10 months ago) #1

I had been to mumbai consulate one month back for my CS visa with step1 score and the document which the prometric center gives stating my completion of step 2 ck exam.

after long waiting i faced the visa officer, the conversation went on:

VO: why are u going to US?
me: to appear for my USMLE STEP2 Clinical Skills examination.

VO: what is ur step1 score?
me: 83.(204)

VO: is it above the mean or below the mean?
(surprised as dint hear this
sort of question being asked to anyone before in all visa discussion
forums and also from my seniors)
me: gave him the score report coz dint know what to answer.

VO: u r below the mean( mean is 217 and standard devisation 20)
me: (paused) i couldnt manage my internship and the exam
simultaneously.

VO: u should have waited.
me: (paused & was interrupted by the VOwhile saying...)
in order to maximise my
chances of getting into residency, i have to complete steps before
september 1st.

VO: i am sorry u do not qualify for the visa ( handed over me the
document stating sec 214(b).

i couldnt understand his intention and expectation. i was helpless with
no words left to explain him my low scores.

was not asked about step2, job, marks, financial statements etc.

Does any one have any suggestions or advices or opinions regarding this.

i think this wud be helpful for future visa aspirants.

Dear Freind that a sad news!

It has happened time and again with many peopel even in delhi .
As in the case of student Visa they ususally asses the aplication keeping in view the university ou are joining and GRE score but In our case only criteria left with Visa officer to acess our seriousness is just MLE Score .

But dont worry its not the end of the game for sure!

My suggestion is wait of your Step 2 Score and apply again .
Second option wch might sound awkward is : GRE Route to US as many have done this after rejection in MLE
Third Option Apply for B1 visa for some short course in big UNI like Harward ( ususally 4-7 day course for 300-500 dollars .

Take your time and disscuss with other friend s and family

BIG THANKS for posting your experience here as It would help others on the forum and I firmly believ if you do good then Good things will sure come back at you
Best of Luck

thank you jeetux, bax, toabid, aujla for supporting and encouraging me.

mainly i felt sad coz i haven't heard any one even saying that CS visa does get rejected basing on scores.i felt i was the unluckiest person on the earth to face such a question in this decade.

i think going for F1 visa after getting B1/B2 rejected may be suspicious for the VO.

by the way my step2 score is 89 and it is also just below the mean 220.

does going to delhi consulate help in any way as usually all doctors go to delhi and get visa easily?

more over i will not have any answer if i am asked the same question next time by the VO ie being below the mean even in step2 as the data of the first visa interaction will be entered in the data base.

pls if you have any suggestions or advices.

thats really sad news dude....
but dont worry...my friend didnt getta visa the 1st time... he reapplied and then got it although for a shorter period of time...
my suggestions are--
1) complete your step2ck
2)apply for step 2cs & request for the VISA assistance letter along wt it....coz it really helps...
now reapply...
wishin u luck dude...
