Considering the recent annoncement of the USMLE ,the score for passing the Step-2CS has been increased in the THE TWO AREAS :spoken English and INTERPERSONAL SKILLS. It is said that its application decreases the pass % of IMGs by about 8%. That means pass rate decreases from the previous 83% TO now 75%.

Any valuable comments and suggestions about anything related to the Step-2CS are highly welcome.
Thanks.

How did you arive at the figure of 8%!! there is no way that i can see by which we can calculate how many will pass now. icon_eek.gif
I don't think it should make much of a difference to us who are willing to get competitive residency. but stil it wud affect some candiates for sure.

This I have not calculated .It has been calculated by the USMLE .Go to their website and see that they have mentioned that if the new scoring system would be applied to the examinees in that month when it was introduced, about 8% more IMG's would fail.

Considering the fact that overall preparation of the examinees will always remain the same .It is then really a big issue to ponder over and that the Step-2CS is really now not a cakewalk now.

Of course, they increase the passing score in order to make it harder and to increase the fail rate,is not it a fact.

if u guys read the blasted handbook you would understand that its impossible to have a minimum fail rate and to change the passing score to fit it.
why?
A)it would cause a big scandal - i know of desis who work for the ECFMG

b)the orientation manual says they dont have a min fail rate
